Pros: very sturdy, well made, huge. Cons: too big for my uses. Rollers weren’t good. Got locked out despite having a code. I gave it away. So, I go outrigger canoeing into the ocean and really don’t like to take my car key since I sometimes flip and don’t want to risk losing my car fob or it getting wet. I don’t want to carry a lot of gear on myself or on the single outrigger canoe. I thought the safer bet is to put a key holder on my car door. This product will work on a vehicle door, but the box is really big & although it has a backing to prevent scratching, the way you have to orient the box can cause car scratches if you aren’t careful, but that’s not a big deal. The BIG DEAL is that the number roller isn’t great. Before using the box, I tried it and it worked. I wrote the code down and had the code with me out in the ocean, with the car fob locked in the box on my car. When I tried to unlock the box after coming from the ocean, I put in the correct code in more than 30 times and the box would not unlock even though the numbers were all lined up correctly and the code was correct. I was stranded and had to borrow a persons phone to call AAA to unlock my car so I could get my phone at least (but I would have still been unable to drive since the key was in the box). The park was closing, you get ticketed and your car gets locked up if it’s not removed from the park, and I could not load my gear and 19 foot outrigger canoe on my car at all (because could not open the car). I was there 2 hours trying to unlock the box & waited for AAA. A man in the park tried for an hour and a half after I had already tried 2 hours. Finally it opened after he tried more than 40 times. So, I gave the lock box away to another paddler, with warnings about the problems. Will I try this box again??? Only if I want a spare key at a residence, with back up keys elsewhere. I will not ever buy to use on my car, for car keys. The rollers aren’t made well.

I had a Master Lockbox that I have used for house keys, unfortunately it was too small to fit the key for my Ford service van; so, I bought this lock box, and not only does it fit one key, it fits two! I have seen some people complain about lock tumblers, but that happens to all combo locks left outside: I just make sure to lubricate the tumblers with a good protective grease (even just plain old WD40 will work) when I start to notice the extra drag.

I attach the box to my tow ring underneath the back of my car. It keeps my car key safe while I go kayaking. Thanks again!
