The Minarets of Cairo: Islamic Architecture from the Arab Conquest to the End of the Ottoman Period

Everything one may wish to know about the minarets of Cairo, Egypt.
You can judge this book by its title as well as its cover. It is a thorough investigation of the minarets of Cairo, Egypt. It is limited to minarets only and does not address mosques and other Islamic structures. In some cases the minarets are now isolated, having lost their associated structure. The book is chronologically arranged with excellent discussions of the minarets supplemented with equally excellent photographs and drawings. Not all minarets are extant, nor have all lost minarets been covered. Where they are not extant archival photographs are provided or, at worst, measured drawings. Note also that the books is entirely focused on the minarets of Cairo, Egypt only and not on other Egyptian minarets or other minarets from other countries, except only peripherally when they have some bearing on our understanding of Cairene minarets.
