Haunted Honeymoon

I love this movie which has now become a classic, lol. I hadn't seen it in decades and I thought about it and somehow it miraculously appeared in my recommended list... Hmmm... Anyway, it's an entertaining movie without blood, guts, overwhelming fornication, just clean fun. I miss the 80s, lol. Well, some parts of the 80s.

Wonderful

I’m not sure what others were expecting. KINO is not a bootleg company. They’ve released some very underground titles with great results. What I received was in HD and well surpasses how I remembered it from the 80s. If you don’t like the movie then that’s one thing, but I’m thinking everyone’s a Siskel & Ebert and should just review the film itself on IMDB.This is an official release.It’s in HD. Not 4k but HD.I knew what I was buying and am very happy to add this release to my collection.

While this movie didn’t do so great at the box office back in it’s day, it’s still a childhood favorite of mine and to this day makes me laugh. I love Gene Wilder and Gilda Radner in this film and if I’m being honest Dom DeLuise steals the show. It’s a comedic whodunnit and is an ode to movies of yesteryear.

As a Blue-ray this movie is what I expected.If you are unfamiliar with the movie, you need to watch it. It is a silly, but well written, family friendly, Halloween type movie. It's about a couple of 30s-40s era Radio voice actors who are getting married over the weekend and the woman (Gilda Radner) learns that her intended (Gene Wilder) may be a werewolf. It's a truly clever movie. Dom DeLuise is brilliant.

Haunted Honeymoon is one of those films that really didn't do well when it came out but to me it is one of my favorites .Written , directed and starring Gene Wilder and co-stars Gilda Radner , Dom Deluise , Jonathan Pryce and many others.The film is centered around 2 radio stars from the 20's or 30s..maybe even the 40's who are about to get married and it is from there they finish up their radio show and go to Gene Wilder's aunt's house who is played by Dom Deluise. It is from there that hijinx stsrt up with murders and werewolves and so much more.This film as Wilder puts it is a color picture with a black and white feel to it. Is this the best film in the world , no...but it is a classic to me because it is the final film of not only Gilda Radnr but Gene and Gilda together.

Der Film, den man in Deutsch mit "Hochzeitsnacht Im Geisterschloss" übersetzt hat, ist fast unbekannt. Schade, es ist an der Zeit ihn vorzustellen. Nur kurz, die Story spricht für sich. Einfach und gut!Es ist ein Film, in dem Gene Wilder sowohl als Drehbuchautor, Regisseur und als Hauptdarsteller fungiert. 1986 hat er sich mit seine Frau Gilda Radner, die hier seine Verlobte Vickie Pearle spielt, wieder in die Richtung "Gruselfilm" mit einem gewissen Klaumauk begeben.Er spielt Larry Abott, der im Radio eine Hörspielsendung hat. Mit Vickie, die sowohl in der Sendung, wie auch im Film, seine Verlobte ist, will er die Hörrer das "Fürchten" lehren. Für Larry ist das nicht schwierig, weil er als Junge in einem Schloss gelebt hat. Dort hatte er viele Möglichkeiten sich zu ängstigen bekommen.Er ist also ein Angsthase. Trotzdem will er seine Verlobte heiraten. Und das, wenn es möglich ist, im Schloss. Dort lebt seine Tante Kate (Dom DeLuise, perfekt gespielt), die gerade ihren letzten Willen umschreiben lässt. Die Tante schaut etwas komisch aus, vielleicht wegen ihrer Kleidung, Figur, Gesicht? Man weiß es nicht, oder doch?Die Geschichte geht immer weiter. Es fehlt wirklich NICHTS! Ein Butler, der entfernt an einen gewissen Monster erinnert, die wunderbaren Verwandten, die alle irgendeine oder mehrere Macken haben. Es muß regnen, es soll stark donnern, das Gewitter gehört einfach dazu. Und der liebe Larry, der immer wieder "zum Tode erschrocken" sein sollte! Nicht schlecht denken, bitte, man kann es mit dieser Methode auch etwas gutes bewirken, wenn ein gewisser Psychiater aus der Schweiz, ein Prof. Strickland, sie erfunden hat. Larrys Onkel Paul ist selbst ein Seelenklempner und ziemlich meschugge (gespielt von Paul L. Smith). Immer diese Psychiater! Sie sollten endlich ihre eigene Seele zum Klempner bringen und nicht Unfug verbreiten! Die Verwandtschaft ist also eine Plage für Larry, die Nacht im Schloss wird zu einem Spiel, bei dem keiner weiß, welche Rolle er/sie bekommen hat.Köstlich dabei die Gesten (weniger die Dialogen, die sind eher dürftig, naja, nicht gerade philosophisch). Der Butler Pfister (Bryan Pringle) ist überzeugt, dass Vickie schwerhörig ist. So muß sich die junge Frau immer wieder einen Schrei gefallen lassen. Rachel, die mit Pfister verheiratet ist, eine kleine, aber.... Frau, ist als die "gute Seele" bekannt. Dabei kann sie ihrem Mann schon Angst einjagen, wenn er seine Nase etwas zu tief in eine Rotweinflasche gesteckt hat. Gespielt wird Rachel von Ann Way (man wird sie erkennen, sie spielte viele gute Nebenrollen).Eine Nacht und Larry (nicht nur er) hat den Eindruck, die ganze Welt ist versammelt im Schloss. Seine frühere "Bekannte" Sylvia (Eve Ferret), die sich jetzt, oh, Wunder, wieder einen Abott geangelt hat...Was immer ich hier schreibe, es soll kein Spoiler sein. Gibt es denn einen (habe mich bei einem anderen Film das auch gefragt?). Eigentlich nicht!Alles ist Spiel und alles ist "todernst". Die Klischees, die ich erwähne, sind köstlich. Wilder dosiert die bekannten Szenen oder Allusionen aus einigen Gruselfilmen so gut, dass man öfter warten soll, weil sich der "Aha" -Effekt in einigen Sekunden in den "Wov-Effekt" verwandelt. Das macht G. Wilder gekonnt, er strapaziert uns nicht mit einem komischen Element bis "gehtnichtmehr". Man lacht, aber die nächste Szene kommt aus einem anderen Stück. Aus Wilders Feder, nämlich.Der Film wird einige enttäuschen, aber wenn man die bekannten Filme vergisst, ist dieser durchaus etwas besonderes.Man spürt die Chemie zwischen den Schauspieler/innen, besonders zwischen Gilda Radner und Gene Wilder. Die waren also wirklich verheiratet (im Hörfunkspiel, im Film und im wirklichen Leben), drei Jahre nach diesem Film ist Gilda Radner mit nicht ganz 43 Jahren an Folgen einer Krebserkrankung gestorben. Ein großer Mann verlor seine Frau, die Filmwelt eine wunderbare Schauspielerin.Die Technik ist nicht ganz top, aber, wer bewertet das schon. BluRay wäre super, vergessen wir das und genießen den Film. Man soll sich abundzu eine Portion Gene Wilder gönnen, auch Mel Brooks kann hier helfen.Wenn man Lucky (der Film) gesehen hat, sein Credo ist bekannt. Aber, das ist ein Geheimnis!

It has a range of funny characters portrayed by a good cast.It's a film I find myself watching again sometimes.It is quite old fashioned and I think that works quite well with the humour.I like that it's set over a weekend in a spooky mansion because it makes the film fun.I remember growing up watching it in the 80’s.

What do you get when you compile some of the best known names of film & TV and near enough give them just an outline of a plot for a film? A: One of the most hilarious films you are likely to see. Taking it's cue from the (mainly American) Radio shows of the 1940's&50's, this film almost single handedly deals with almost every cliche the horror industry ever threw at audiences. Well known Celebrity larry Price Gene (wilder) is Due to inherit a fortune from his elderly Aunt Kate (Dom Delousie), except that there are a few "Shady Characters" who reckon it should be otherwise, and set about trying to prove larry as an unworthy beneficiary due to the fact he's nuts, (A fact they intend to prove by literally driving him made Courtesy of some very clever tricks). including a flying Bride (Wilder's real life wife the late Gilda Radner),Everything that ever happened in the old horro Movies, happens here mysterious murders, where the dead body conveniently disappears Thunder storms, which later turn out to be nothing of the kind , and every corny situation that you used to watch and enjoy all those years are lined up for parody. This also gives the cast some great opportunities to deliver some real deapan lines "Electricity is the work of the Devil, this is god's way of telling me I should never have had it installed" wails Aunt Kate during a powercut, as well as some Earth Shattering Revelations over dinner ("One of you is a werewolf, I know because I've seen you in the garde, whoever you are, may god strike you dead, you're playing on the fears of an old lady". Comedy doesn't come much better than this, and with an all star cast (Gene Wilder, Gilda Radner, Dom Delouise, Bryan PringleAnna Way, Peter Vaughan, Paul L Smith, Eve Farrar Ana Way & Jonathan Pryce, you reallt can't go wrong. Don't just take my word for it either, no less a luminary than BBC Film Critic Barry Norman rated this among his top films, so just what more exuce do you need?
