Volcom Men's Frickin Chino Short

Purchased these Volcom Chinos (black) and 2 pairs of VANS Chinos (charcoal and black) for my husband. He's worn and washed them all several times over the past 6 weeks.The Volcoms are better quality overall. There are no loose threads or color fading. No lasting stains whatsoever and he also likes that they are slightly longer in length compared to the Vans Chinos. The black Vans Chinos have multiple stain marks that are stubborn to remove and they seem to attract more lint/hair compared to the Volcoms. The black color is less stark in the Volcom pair as you can see in the photos I provided for a side by side comparison. They aren't as light as the charcoal Vans, but they are more of a grey-black. The Vans do run a bit cheaper in price, but I expect the Volcom pair to last longer.

I ended up getting about 4 pairs of these shorts in different colors (black, grey, blue, mushroom). Really comfortable, durable, and fit loose (I don't like skinny or tight fitting shorts). Only issue would be I wish the front pockets were a bit deeper, but they are deeper than previous Volcom shorts of the same style I own. If these shorts last as long as the previous Volcom shorts I bought (and still own) they'll probably outlive me. Seriously couldn't be happier with these, really stoked on them.

I’ve owed this series of shorts for over 12 years and they hold up great. These are a newer version that fit exactly the same as my old ones but seem to have an upgraded button holder. It’s not just sewn with small stitching it’s onto a loop of material and is quite nice. I’ve owned a similar pair from another higher end name brand and they wore through way faster than these have. Highly recommended!

Love these shorts. I have a pair of the shorter chinos as well that are made from the same recycled plastic material. Only thing I would say is to know what size your waistline is and what you will be using the shorts for. If everyday use go one size bigger just in case and you may have to wear a belt. The waist doesn't stretch much at all and feels a tad tight but after a couple hours of wearing them they either stretch just a tiny bit or I got used to the feeling of them. By the end of the day I wanted to pop that button open though. Had my shorter chinos by Volcom for a couple weeks and the only thing I have noticed so far is the extra threads have start coming loose, nothing a lighter couldn't fix. Great smooth feel all around almost like a mix between a swimsuit type of material and a cotton/khaki material. The mini pocket in the right pocket is a nice touch although I do see something small getting in there and me having a tough time getting it out. My wallet sits a little high and right which is different and the button on the back left pocket gives these shorts a somewhat neater feel to them.

Fit and look great. Super comfortable too. They go past the knee. Not very stretchy like some of the other Volcom shorts I wear. Good quality overall. For around $40, they are cool. I recommend these.. True to size as well.

My husband loves this brand and the fit of their shorts, but the quality just isn’t there anymore. He doesn’t wear them often enough to justify the fading that started happening on the legs after 3 months post purchase. Now almost a year in, we’re retiring them as they look old and very faded.
