Order this BY ITSELF - Do not ship it with anything else!
DO NOT ORDER THIS WITH ANYTHING ELSE SCHEDULED FOR THE SAME DELIVERY! The heavy fertilizer bag will wreck anything else in the box! My other two items got their packaging crushed and I lucked out not have the fertilizer bag torn as a result. As for the fertilizer it says it is enough to do 14 feedings (once every 6 weeks) for a fruit tree with a 10 foot canopy. Great bang for the buck. Buy a dollar store plastic measuring cup to keep in the bag. You spread 1/4 cup in each 4 foot section mixing it 1-3 inches into the soil depth taking care to keep it off the trunk and more towards the drip line (where the water drips off the leaves and into the soil). You can then put the mulch back on top and water normally, reapplying every 6 weeks.Same price as Home Depot, but Amazon delivers to your door.

Well-known brand,but....
Miracle-Gro is considered to be a top of the line brand, but with most fertilizers you need to know what your soil needs and the reactive qualities with the soil that make the fertilizer's nutrients available.I have dry desert soils that are highly saline and in our region, we don't water here like other regions. Rainfall is low and when it does come, it comes in monsoon quantities. Therefore, most of the year there is not enough water to break these highly nutritious granules down. Also, the high nitrogen content can burn plant roots with high soil temperatures here for six months of the year. So, the product is good, but I have a better solution for this region.I use liquid fish fertilizer, commonly referred to as fish emulsion. The nitrogen level is lower eliminating the potential for root burn and therefore be applied more often. An analogy would be the difference of a person taking a daily vitamin,, versus downing 1/4 of the bottle four times a year. The emulsion is mixed in water and already broken down when it goes into the soil. In a place where people don't fertilize, I am fertilizing at the beginning of every month with the lower nutrient level fertilizer and of course water. The plants are responding much better because there are nutrients available to them spread over time. They are not exhausted looking by the end of summer because they are slowly receiving their nutrients in a form that allows them to receive it, through their moistened roots. Fertilizing in desert soils can be tricky. This is a great product, but in the environment in which I live I would only use this product as soil amendments in the initial planting mixture for potted plants.
