Quick, Easy, and Accurate—Great for Home Use!
This kit might be quicker and easier than tracking down your blood type from your doctor’s office! The test was simple to administer and had a learning curve similar to an at-home COVID test—just follow the step-by-step instructions, and you’ll be fine. I used it on myself, an elementary-aged child, and a toddler. The finger prick was straightforward, even for someone with no medical background. It’s about the same experience as a finger stick at the doctor’s office—manageable for adults but understandably a little unpleasant for kids. The results were easy to read, with clear and definitive outcomes. If you need to determine your blood type at home, this is a convenient and reliable option. Highly recommend!

Excellent test
This is a great item. Seems overwhelming when you first open and read through it. I watched the video and it made it simpler and very easy. The lancet DOES get enough blood for this. I was worried that it wouldn’t be, and I was typing my children. But it was perfect! Thanks for a product that gave us the info we needed.

Totally worth it
I’m so glad I bought this! It’s so neat. It’s easy to do as far as the steps go, but I do recommend having help while actually collecting the blood. It can be a little difficult, not impossible, to get enough blood on all 4 eldonsticks before it either starts to clot or your finger stops bleeding. Luckily it comes with 2 lancets in case you have to poke your finger again. All in all, it’s totally worth it

Worked like a charm!
The kids and I did this while studying a science unit on blood. They were very impressed! The instructions were well written and the process was flawless. Now, thankfully, we each have a good idea of our blood type which we didn't know peviously.

Tips for good blood samples
Read all the instructions first. I’ll add to 2 tips below. Our 3 kits showed manufacture 2 months ago and expire in 2 years. The lancets required a surprising amount of pressure to activate, which was intimidating for the first person, then we all agreed the actual stick was more heard as a click than felt/hurt as pain.Regarding accuracy: Apparently accurate. We had 3 adults. One served as the control who had his official lab test result of B+ to compare against; another who had notes from discussing her lab test results of AB- with the doctor years ago and wanted confirmation that she noted correctly; and a third who thought she was O+ but did not remember how she got that impression. All 3 came out exactly as expected, no confusion, apparently accurate.First, as other reviewers said, the hardest part is transferring 4 good-sized blood drops from your finger to the right spots on the card. We found that position matters, and it helps to use gravity in your favor. When choosing where to poke your finger for the blood draw, hold your non-dominant hand with the palm facing you, and identify which side of the desired finger is down. That is the spot you should to use. It seems awkward to use the lancet there, but makes it much easier to gather the blood with less frustration or chance of contamination. Gravity will help form nice drops that your dominant hand can then gather onto to the sticks easily. We learned this the hard way, after one of us instinctively chose the top side of the finger because it was easier to prick, then the blood ran down the finger and smeared on the sticks, so we had to use first aid supplies like sanitary gauze pads and additional alcohol wipes to clean the smears off the finger and see the next drop forming. That was stressful and wasted time, plus gathered smaller blood samples for less clear results.Second, in the last steps of tipping the card around, ignore the specific angle for 10 seconds. It would let the samples run into and contaminate each other. Instead, gently tilt/rock the card around slowly, moving almost constantly in various directions to swirl all the samples but not let any of them run outside the boundaries of their own circles.

Fun, educational, and accurate!
When I realized that my husband didn't know his blood type and neither of us knew our daughter's, I remembered doing a similar test back in Biology class and knew we had to do it at home! The 3 pack arrives as 3 individual tests with everything shown. I highly recommend reading through the directions 2 or 3 times to make sure you understand all of the steps. It is very important that you follow each step in order, and that you make sure the finger you are pricking is warm! A cold digit will not produce well. As a former phlebotomist I knew this was vital. You also have to make sure you hold the test sheet up and down, left and right, as the directions state (though we had to keep them tilted quite a bit more than the directions showed to keep the blood from running out of the circles). My husband forgot this step and we were confused with the results until I realized the mistake, and we were luckily still able to tilt it and get a result. We did my test first since I already knew my type, just in case we made a mistake, and it came out perfectly. I was able to do my own, but I did help my 9 year-old. I did the finger prick and I squeezed her finger for her while she collected the blood and mixed it into the circles. She did a great job and I think hers is a perfect age for something like this. We had no troubles with the lancets at all. Again, making sure your finger is warm (and choosing an area of a finger that is callous-free) is the real key to getting a large enough sample.
