Solid boat with plenty of spare and upgrade parts
This boat is very capable out of the box, but it's not idiot proof. The cooling system is limited, and poor driving can make it worse. People tend to want to take it slow at first, which seems intuitive, but slow speeds won't prime the cooling path. For my boat, I use a syringe to force water through the side port until I see drips from the rudder so I know the cooling path is pre-primed. From there I give it some rest while on the water after top speed runs, and let off throttle for turns. Letting it set too long could boil out the cooling passages, so some balance and moderation is required. I'm tempted to add telemetry so I can track temperatures better, but cooling upgrades are cheaper: dual pickup rudder and aluminum motor jacket.Another way these boats can die is from budget batteries. Many manufacturers write whatever C-rate they want, and are often only capable of half that rating. If the battery can't keep up, voltage will dip. If voltage dips, current will spike and components will fry. I would recommend some brands, but quality changes fast, so as soon as this is posted it likely won't be true. Google reviews from the current year and pick your price range. More $ isn't always better. Gens Ace were good bang for the buck 2 years ago when I ordered them for another boat, and they've held up well. I have 2S and 3S packs, but I'm waiting for cooling upgrades to try 6S on this boat. A little gun shy after breaking my last boat (HobbyKing Inception) every time I ran 6S: first fried some connectors, then the ESC let the smoke out, then the motor popped, then snapped the flexshaft and couldn't find a replacement. I switched to the more expensive Traxxas for availability of parts.

Fast boat but upgrades are required.
Stock cooling sucks, you will have to upgrade rudder and driveline parts. Flex cable slipped bad on first run even when coupler is tight as it could be, had to buy extra parts from traxxas and also ESC will be into thermal shutdown if you don't address cooling problems.

Two thumbs up!
Very excellent piece of RC equipment. Just be cautious when running over a period of time. It can have some heating issues with the drivetrain heating up with heavy use. But great setup otherwise! 👍
