Easy Instructions for kids & adults!
We bought the book for our son (age 11) because he loves to craft on the weekends with us. We prefer referencing the book instead of scrolling through endless blogs before finding clear project instructions. The book also gave us awesome ideas to make Christmas gifts for friends and family this year. Buy it!

Excellent!!!
As a mom and craft lover, a troop leader plus someone who hosts craft nights and teaches crafts to kids, I recommend Upcycle It! I have a ridiculously huge collection of craft books and Perkin’s new book is a definite winner! My 9yo daughter and I are currently having a blast creating projects together over Spring Break. So far we’ve made the mini memo board and cactus light, and are starting the string lights tomorrow. Although she technically doesn’t need my help, we are totally enjoying the our time spent together crafting. The book has easy to follow step by step directions, and plenty of photos making it simple for kids to do on their own or with minimal help if they are younger. The projects featured are definitely ones that appeal to a wide age range (from early elementary to at least tweens) and can be adjusted based on age. There’s also a wide variety of projects from wearable creations to fun organizational to cool décor. Since the projects are upcycled based, they are easy on the wallet and made with items most already have around the house. What I absolutely love is if you do happen to lack a few supplies, the projects are versatile so kids can easily substitute with what’s on hand to modify the ideas, letting their imaginations and creativity run wild! So yes! We both give it 2 thumbs up! If you have a craft loving kiddo and/or are looking for fun projects to do with kids, buy this book!

super fun projects!
i love so many things about this book:1) the conversational tone makes me feel like jennifer and i are sitting together at our craft table.2) the welcoming pages, tips & tricks told me everything i need to get started. happily, most of these materials are things i already have in my house! it also explains the great features that jennifer includes with each activity.3) perhaps the best feature is the messy meter above the project title, which lets you know up front what to expect from each project rather than getting surprised at a huge chaotic mess halfway through.4) the top-notch tips remind us that if we don't have the exact same item, you can still use what you've got! or they remind us of simple art elements and techniques we can use.5) the advanced crafting addition helps you punch up a fun, simple trick to a slightly more sophisticated project for older and more experienced crafters.i highly recommend this book for young kids (my daughter is 6 and already made her own jazzy jar, and is excited to make more!) all the way to your artmaking tweens. each project can be dialed up or down, allowing for kids to explore their individual creativity. i am grateful for the opportunity to receive an advance copy and predict it will become a favorite birthday present!

You and your kids will love this book!
I was fortunate enough to receive a complimentary copy of this fabulous book and asked to provide an unbiased review. I can say without hesitation that it's one of the best parent-kid activity books I've come across, and I've come across many as a parent and now as a grandparent. My grandchildren (ages 8 and 11) and I have had so much fun doing some of these upcycled projects. They especially loved creating the denim journal cover and making the cactus lamp. I have no doubt that between now and the end of summer, we'll make everything in this book. I really love the Messy Meter feature, which lets me know in advance how much I should prep the work area and if the kids will need to change clothes or put on an old t-shirt. The instructions are very clear, and allow for adapting the instructions to what you've got around the house. Jennifer's brilliant creativity and sense of whimsy cannot be overstated--there's simply no one who does this better. You will absolutely love this book and all it has to offer, and so will the children in your life.
