The GOAT - an up-to date career perspective ☮️
This book is a biggy and it’s pretty much bang up to date with all Prince releases, up to and including Estate release of Welcome 2 America. Includes, as a fan (saw him live 31 times) some new back stories and anecdotes I hadn’t heard before, especially around inspirations for Prince’s songs. It is not 100% comprehensive ( is that even possible) as some one else has pointed out but could have only been improved it if it had fully covered the various protege LP releases but net-net a great addition to the canon of books covering the career of the GOAT☮️

Enjoyable coffee table for Prince fans
My collection of Prince books is pretty huge, and when I heard that this one was being released I had to get a copy. I've been reading it since Christmas and can finally pass judgement. This is a huge, heavy hardback, full of great pictures and is basically a chronological list of every song Prince ever released. It isn't complete, so you won't find songs by associated artists in here, nor are there any remixes or bootlegs, and when the Prince estate release more stuff from his vault of unreleased songs the book will obviously be out of date. Each album appears in its own section, detailing the track listing, its release date, and highest US and UK chart positions, then there is a short - one or two pages - write-up of the era and the background to the album, before each track is catalogued. If you've read Duane Tudahl's stunning books about Prince's studio sessions this book pales in comparison to them, as each track is more or less listed as the title, recording date and personnel if known, then a couple of paragraphs describing the song. There are some interesting details to be found though, and I did learn a few things I didn't know before but had suspicions of, especially regarding his output since 2000.There are several mistakes in the book - at one point a headline on a page says in huge text "RINCE'S FIRST RECORDINGS" (page 276). Elsewhere names are mixed up, so it says at one point that Alan Leeds played on a track but it was really his brother Eric, and the spelling of some names varies. The timeline is also a little off in parts, so whilst some albums have a title page, then a couple of pages of text about it, then the tracks are explained, then additional songs recorded and released after that (compilations etc.) at a few points we get the title page, then the background, then the additional songs, then the album itself. On the whole though it's a lovely book to look at, and the size of the thing brings home just how many songs he wrote and released. Not as essential as the Duane Tudahl books, or a number of others, but a very nice addition to the Prince bookshelf, as long as it is strong enough to hold it at least.

French language from page 532 to 592?
Hang on, this is an absolutely fantastic book. Why is it that it suddenly goes into French (from English) randomly? Amazon, please advise me what to do!Update: Amazon have been kind enough to send me a full English language version today. Bravo, and I've given it 5 stars. Cracking book for the new fan and the old fan providing great references to each chapter of Prince's outstanding musical career 😎✌️🎸

Amazing work reflecting and cataloging the work of Prince!
I was amazed at the size of this book but when I think about it Prince has produced so much music it would take a big book to cover it.I haven't read it from cover to cover but what I have so far has plenty to keep any of the fam entertained for a while.A must-read for any follower of the purple one.
