Affordable, easy to use balayage effect with salon worthy results
I’ve been using Icing Swirl Balayage (BY1) for a few years now thanks to the pandemic & hair salon closing. This has been the easiest and safest option for my type hair and skill set. My highlights are not as intense/vibrant (?) as from the salon, but appear warm and more natural looking (also $70 cheaper). It’s pretty straight forward to use, with easy to follow instructions. Everything you need is in the box so there’s no extra expense. Think of this as hand painting your hair. You use the comb-like-brush to apply the mixture directly to the parts of hair YOU want highlighted. There is no cap, foil or crochet hook/needle to mess with. All that is needed is an old shirt or towel as protection against any drips (not mandatory but accidents do happen), a couple of hairclips (optional), a mirror, a timer (I use the one on my phone) and the kit. You can apply it sitting down or standing up, it’s all up to you. I start with a few strokes to frame my face, then apply randomly to the rest of my hair style (especially the back of my head), but it seems to look & works well whether my hair is down or pinned up. -Don’t overthink it AND don’t worry about using the whole bottle. I have short hair so an application for me is about half a bottle with the balance discarded. If this is your first time using color, this brand or product, do the skin allergy test first, just to be on the safe side. The Nutrisse Balayage is a healthier, safer technique to use since it is ‘hair color’ vs “bleach” that strips color, but it also depends on the condition of your hair and the level of lightness you want. This has been perfect for me, my hair and my budget. A hidden benefit is not needing to touch-up new hair growth as frequently as you would with regular color or ‘highlights’ due to the blended effect. Overall, this has been my best decision with regards to my own diy balayage treatment. It works with my schedule, takes less time to do, is less damaging on my hair, and it’s definitely a low cost option that gives me salon worthy results. *I do recommend an extra moisturizer or deep conditioner for between treatments. Otherwise, it’s a great DIY home option. P.S. Product line is also vegan and cruelty free.

Love it, wish I had used it first
I used this a couple days after another bleach (which it says not to do btw so not recommending) bc I originally bleached with the intention of dyeing over it with fuchsia and didn’t super care how great it looked but ended up liking the lighter look and wanting to keep it. Obviously it went brassy. I used the wrong level it wasn’t meant for hair quite as dark as mine, unlike this one. Had I used this one first I think the brassiness would’ve been much reduced maybe even not there at all. There’s still a tad bit of orange but I like it overall. I’ve always loved garnier products for dyeing, they smell so great and my always hair felt amazing after. This is my first time ever bleaching at home and I feel like the end result looks good. My hair never gets touched by heat and hasn’t been dyed or bleached for years so a double bleach within a week can be handled. I am deep conditioning and applying oil and it passed the sink or swim test so it doesn’t seem too affected but we shall see. Certainly no clumps falling out as some people on the internet like to say will happen, thank goodness

Careful if you have any red/brown tones in your hair.
Pic doesn’t rlly do what I’m sayin justice but,The toner itself, on bleached blonde hair, I really like. However, my bangs and around my face were dyed a coppery brown, to make matters worse this was dyed over a strawberry blonde. So lots of red under tones.Hated the color, went to bleach it out with this and hair ended up turning cotton candy pink blended in with cool blonde wherever the brown was.I did use it for other parts of my hair that were blonde and they ended up looking great.I still have the pink and tbh it looks like I did it on purpose and kind of tones down the red splotches on my face from skin probs and don’t wanna bleach back to back. I’m js tho. If you have any red or brown tones you could well end up with pink hair, be careful lol.

Left my hair soft, that was the pro
Cons- smells strong... I was gagging, my husband was gagging. I even had the bathroom fan on, and the window open. My hair was dyed dark before using this, with months of outgrowth. Left my hair very orange where it was my natural outgrowth, didn't lift much on the colored. areas. I've been coloring my own hair/bleaching it since 2001 and this wasn't the worst, or best experience. Thankful my hair wasn't fried at all. It's so smoothe & soft evem better than before I colored it. I shared before and afters.

For those with sensitive skin
I am a professional hairdresser. And yes, I work in a salon.. I absolutely love this hair color. And I oddly love this formula as well because most hair colors irritate my scalp so if you have a sensitive scalp, and you need to be blonde like myself this is the one for you
