Lost Ocean Artist's Edition: An Inky Adventure and Coloring Book for Adults: 24 Drawings to Color and Frame

After reading several reviews of the original Lost Ocean adult-teen coloring book where many complained about the poor paper quality, I decided to purchase the Artist edition as I knew the paper quality would be top-notch. It is! This exceeded my expectations. In the original mass-produced edition, I saw that many of the designs ran into the spine of the book. I really dislike that! In this edition every picture is centered on each page perfectly. The paper is nice heavy cream-colored card stock. I have used pencils, gel pens, water-based markers, and water colors. The designs are printed on only one side of each page ( A HUGE IMPROVEMENT ) from the original edition. On backside of each page there is a small design, but only in the center and it repeats on the back of each page. This adds sophistication but does not detract. I have yet to use my alcohol based markers as I always fear bleed through. But since there's no picture on the back of each page, I may give those a try as well. The cost of my artist's edition was $14 and change. That's only a few dollars more than the poorer quality original edition, so well worth the investment. There are fewer pictures than in the original edition, but the best ones ( in my humble opinion ) were chosen for this book. The quality is outstanding.

Nice and big. Fun to color.

I was so excited when this arrived today! And of course, Johanna has done it again! It's another big, sturdy, and beautifully done book. It is the same size as the Secret Garden Artist Edition, approx 8" x 13". Awesome thick pages. Pretty much single sided. One side has a full sized image and opposite side has a cute little image, just to prevent the page from being boring and blank. I've shown a few below for reference. I haven't had a chance to color it yet so I'm not sure about bleed thru. It isn't something I'm nervous about as these pages are quite thick. The cover opens and lays completely flat so you are able to get the pages you've colored out easier then before. That's a great update! The pictures are gorgeous with fine and even lines, plenty of space to color. I would definitely recommend this purchase to anyone. You won't regret it! Happy Coloring!! :)

Quality paper. Great images.

did the first one with the same pictures. loved it. now this one I will color and frame them with this nice heavy paper. the only problem I have found is that the ink from my markers floats on top and I have to go over each spot twice or more for the sharpness of color I am trying to achieve.

The drawings in this edition are spectacular and the pages are heavy enough to use watercolor pencils.

Very impressed with paper quality and coloring fun. It came apart at seam right away which I initially found disappointing. I went back and read that the creator's objective was to create framable art so that is probably why it came apart so easily. This book is oversized and therefore the pictures will take longer to complete but they are fun and challenging. Paper quality allows me to mix all my favorite ways to color... color pencil - marker - brush.

This was purchased by my husband for me. The pictures are beautiful, BUT it's a coloring book, not a How to Sketch for watercolors, which is what I wanted

BITTER DISAPPOINTMENT. IVE GIVEN 1 STAR FOR THE FABULOUS QUALITY OF THIS BOOK BUT I'M SOOOOOO DISAPPOINTED BY THE SELECTION OF IMAGES THEREIN. TOO MANY WALLPAPER STYLE PAGES WHEN THERE ARE MANY GREAT IMAGES IN THE ORIGINAL BOOK. I WAS GOING TO GET THE OTHER ARTIST EDITIONS BY THIS ARTIST BUT I DON'T THINK I'LL BOTHER NOW!

Beautiful book to colour when you want a bit of down time to yourself - very therapeutic
