Corel VideoStudio Pro X10 Video Editing Suite for PC (Old Version)

Finally got away from Adobe's buggy mess, at least twice a week talking to support, to this cheaper, albeit slower, but much stabler video editor. Clean and simple interface, shallow learning curve with free seven day access to studio backlot for beginner tutorials. It uses CPU not GPU for rendering so like I said it is slower, but overall I accomplish more because I don't have to work around crashes and no launches every time Premiere updates or it just feels like not running. You can also update this to Ultimate inside this program for $19.99 so do that instead of buying Ultimate outright that gives you some VFX elements, pretty basic stuff, and more cameras to work with, It is definitely worth the $20 though.

When producing a DVD Video, I found this program to be very very slow. It took 8 Hours to produce a 12 minute DVD video. My computer also was not usable for anything else during the production time.

The video card in my 2 year old laptop is not compatible with this software. Three weeks of exchanging emails with their support and no resolution. I loaded this on my wife's computer and it works perfectly, Good program, just can't run it on the PC that I wanted to. Beware....

I bought this and set it aside until I got a new computer. Well I finally got my new, Windows11, computer and it will not activate. It keeps telling me the serial number is invalid, kept reloading and finally got it to work.I have used this program on my old Windows10 computer and like it so that is why I got this for my new computer.

As a novice to video editing and movie making I would say that this is not a program for beginners. The User's Guide gave basic steps on how to do something but was very sparse on detail. That, coupled with the GUI not being very intuitive, made it very difficult for me to make movies from old VHS video clips that have been digitized. I have been working with computers for over 30 years but it was a struggle using this application.

I hate that Microsoft gave up including their movie maker in their new computers, but this one is very close to that format, making it easy to just start working with it. There are a few quirks that I still have to figure out, but my first video was pretty good.

Video Studio X10 pro will run on Windows 11 Pro and you don't have a never ending cost of a subscription.My HDware- AMD Ryzen 5 7600X, Samsung NVMe m.2 990 pro 2TB, 32GB Ram, on a PG lighting X670E. The VD Suite does include a Screen Capture program that ONLY SAVES in WMV (windows media video file format), NOT allowing saves in MP4 the most universal standard. Other programs do support MP4 - like Power Director, VS X10 does support native Sony camcorder files. Note that if You have a Sony Camcorder ( I have 5 because they have excellent optical Zoom & video\sound quality - Digital zoom is utterly worthless) the Newer versions of Video Studio don't support the native Sony file type. I tried the newer version of a stand alone VS and it did not support Sony file types. So would I recommend to a friend NO!

I've never tried making a video before and thought it would be too difficult, but thought this was a good bargain. Didn't need to worry, it was actually very intuitive and easy to use. However, I now have more appreciation for people who edit for a living and the time involved.
