Where was the first Christian Church in Europe?
Very technical writing but very interesting endnotes. Not an easy read! Presents clear evidence that the first Christian community was founded 36 CE in western England, not in Rome, Italy as the traditional site.

Great Research
This was a great find. I highly recommend it. Jowett put together a wonderful work that really opened my eyes to what happened after the crucifixion.

A new way of viewing the evolution of christian religion
A fascinating account of an otherwise not widely known history of what happened after the bible ends it's story. Easy to read and gives the reader a lot to think about.

Bigoted, racist, fraudulent rubbish
Jowett spins a yarn based on one speculation taken as fact leading to another speculation which is also taken as fact and so on. He brings in his nineteenth and twentieth century prejudices and uses his yarn to justify them. He claims to be writing history, and to be researching the historians who went before him. He claims in his index to have consulted Gildas, who, at five hundred years after the alleged events is the earliest and most reliable witness, but when you look up the pages in the index where material is attributed to Gildas, you draw a blank every time. He claims to have used Gildas but has not.The book suits people who want to think that Jesus was based in England, that the true church is Anglican rather than Roman, that Britain inherits God's promises to Israel and people of other races don't; it is written for people of that sort.

Good and Interesting background History
Bought this as it was a book mentioned in one of Dolores Cannon's books. Had to dip in and out as quite complicated in parts and a lot to take in. I found it to be very interesting and I wont give up on it - but not a book to slip in to your holiday luggage - you need time to absorb it all.
