In 1906 our Great Grandfather, Paul Mariani, left his hometown in Croatia and sailed to the United States of America. Though we're sure the reason for his journey was to create the life of his dreams, he was also following his high school sweetheart, Victoria. Now in our fourth generation, with Mathilda's grandson, George Sousa Jr. as our President, 7 working family members and over 450 Mariani employees, we remian committed to quality, innovation, and living the values that were exemplified for us so that we can be examples of those values for the next generation. As we raise our own children, we see more than ever the impact that real, whole, plant based food can have on the health of our families. Our mission is to make the world's best dried fruit so that you and your family can make real, nutrient rich food the fuel for your life.

Terrible. Not like it used to be. Please read.
Mariani dried pineapple used to be excellent- big, juicy wedges of sweet, dried pineapple. I had not bought it in a few years. What I discovered in the bag was a total disappointment. The brain trust at Mariani apparently made a decision no longer to use the "meat" of the pineapple and instead to use the core of the pineapple. That's right, the core. Instead of the big, juicy wedges of pineapple I used to love, I discovered a bag full of half-moon shaped, chewy, tough, fibrous, flavorless disappointment. They took the core, cut it down the middle, then sliced it into half moons. Wedges come naturally on sliced pineapple. Half moons do not. VERY DISAPPOINTED. BUYER BEWARE.

chewy, not premium level
generally low quality, irregular. Mariani has two quality levels. These are the lesser. These cheaper packs do not have the 'premium' label, are 5.5 oz, and most pieces are more chewy, some have lower quality taste and some I toss in the trash as soon as I bite into them. I love their Premium level and have been buying them at Kroger's for years. I made the mistake (NON-PREMIUM) , because the quality level is not mentioned. Look for the 6.0 oz premium size. look closely and be sure "premium" is just below the Mariani red flag label. only buy premium.

Only the cores
So disappointed. I wish I had read the reviews before I bought these. Previous reviewer is right: these are only pineapple cores. Each piece is this half moon shape. So bogus. I thought Mariani was a trustworthy, well-known dried fruit brand. I won’t be purchasing their products again.

Pineapple candy
On the subject of cores, I don't have an opinion. The Mariani dried pineapple is delicious. Big kids like me will always want candy, and these are pineapple candy, as much sugar as pineapple, but I still think they're an improvement over "fruit slice" gumdrops and "orange slice" gumdrops, because these are real food, pineapple and sugar. I love them for snacks, in yogurt with blueberries, in fruit salads.

These are Pineapple Cores.
These are pineapple CORES. You know, the stringy, nearly flavorless center of the pineapple that most people throw away? That’s what’s in these bags. Pineapple by-products.

More bits than chunks
Not a negative review but to be honest I really wasn't sure what to expect. I've gotten this brand before but it most have been a bigger bag because it was more like pineapple chunks. These are more like pineapple pieces, still very tasty!

Terrible, repackaged product
Trust the other reviews, these are not authentic Mariani brand pineapple chunks. I buy mine from a local small store here in Utah and they are legit delicious, large, sweet, and soft, these ones however are NOT THOSE. You can tell by the top of the bag that it's been repackaged with whatever gross, hard "pineapple" they're finding on the ground somewhere. Head the warnings.
