Only Wished it was Longer …
I absolutely adore Stacy Reid’s books! This is the 3rd Series I’ve enjoyed from her. Always beautifully written. I do however wish a third fresh eye would edit to correct the occasional misuse of a word usually a wrong tense. Sometimes you need a bit more than spellcheck. My biggest wish for this book however was length. At under 200 pages I longed for more turmoil and angst to build this story of Sebastian and Francis.Francis inviting Sebastian’s friends to socialize could have been capitalized more. Exploring sensuality to write Francis’ book would also have been a great addition to this book. She would have courted scandal in doing so.All in all this steamy edition did not leave me wanting and dis not disappoint except to be longer. I guess I just love Stacy Reid’s writing and more of a good thing is always wonderful!

Simply a good book
It takes courage to be vulnerable enough to love and be loved. Unfortunately, in the literary world romance novels are relegated to the back of the bookshelf as a frivolous domain of the feminine. Picking up a romance is supposed to make us feel ashamed, regardless that the novel’s subjects, whether heteronormative or LGBTQ+, can be just as three dimensional as characters found in most classic literature while navigating the complexities of relationships, love and longing. When the narrative ultimately leads to ‘happily ever after’ a romance rarely, if ever, receives the same gravitas as most other genres. Fortunately, in the hands of a master storyteller, picking up a romance isn’t shamefully relegated to the category of guilty pleasure, rather it is transformed into the simple pleasure of sitting down to enjoy a good book.Stacy Reid is such a storyteller and while I wouldn’t call “The Viscount and I” her best work, I recognize the artistry she possesses as a writer. She brings the mastery of storytelling that is necessary to make the narrative of two people overcoming their insecurities and fears, while getting to know each other, compelling and enjoyable. The relationship between Sebastian and Fanny could have been formulaic or banal and yet every time I picked it up, I found myself drawn into the intricacies of their dance around their respective desires for each other while navigating disparate life experiences. They became full-fledged, complex characters whose reactions and behaviors felt like they were genuinely dictated by their respective circumstances, personalities and backgrounds. Reid’s mastery is evident yet subtlety apparent with a narrative that carefully establishes trust between Fanny and Sebastian. Reid’s interweaving of small, frequent demonstrations of unconditional love and patience, eventually culminates in creating a safe space for Fanny to reveal her own desires and longing while seducing her husband.I would have given five stars but the end and transition to the epilogue was far too abrupt, unsatisfying and incongruous to the rest of the story. Otherwise I would recommend “The Viscount and I” to anyone and would proudly display this story at the front of the bookshelf.

Love and Passion
As I turned the last page at 2:00 in the morning, I could not help but smile and know I might dream about this novella. I loved the premise of this story, with the heroine, Lady Fanny Dashwood determined not to marry for strictly money reasons. That is, her money, their reasons! The opening begins with Fanny going to the church to attend her wedding to a man she thinks has true affection for her. But she overhears him talking to his mistress and being excited about the baby they will have! Okay, that definately pulled me in and at that moment I knew I loved Fanny for leaving him at the alter! But her brother is pushing her to marry and she comes up with a solution. Sebastian (yes one of my favorite names, sigh) Rutledge, Viscount Shaw is considered a commoner. He works for his living and does not have the manners of growing up privileged. But he has desired Fanny since he first saw her a couple of years ago, but feels he is far beneath her notice. Until, Fanny comes up with a scheme for them to be married as a convenience. But as they spend time together, their explosive chemistry ignites and it cannot be contained. This story is so typical of Stacy Reid's magical writing. A beautiful love story that will engage the heart..

Learning the intimacies
This story proves true love comes to those who are patient and wait. Some men can withstand their passions to give their partner time to catch up.

Loved it.
Stacey Reid has done itLoved this new book by Stacy Reid, The love story between Sebastian and Fanny was wonderful to watch as love grew for her and for him he had loved her for years. She has almost been married twice, and her last time she even made it to the church to marry the Marquess of Trent but she catches him with his mistress in a very telling embrace right before she walks down the isle. Fanny has a backbone and leaves him at the alter, her brothers shouts calling her to return. Thank goodness she listened to her own heart, for Viscount Shaw, Sebastian calls and offers her marriage unknown to her he has loved her for years. Sebastian was a commoner and a working man who made his fortune by trade even though he is now a Viscount, he is considered beneath a daughter of an Earl. Against her brother and mothers wish'es she marries him, and we watch her grow into a wife who comes to love her husband. She is quite innocent in the ways of love and sex, but she has a great teacher in Sebastian. I know if you like Stacey's other books you will love this story and though it's a novella nothing is left out, and we have our happy ending.

Very sweet
I loved that they dealt with the issue of fidelity and marital bed expectations among peers. There was a lot to be frustrated about, but Fanny and Sebastian managed to work through Fanny’s Puritan views against the odds.My only complaint really is that the book seems abridged. So much was left to be explored with the families, friends and society. My mind kept wanting to expand the story almost as if once, long ago I read a longer version which has since been whittled down.

Vale a pena a leitura.

Another magnificent addition to the series
This is another magnificently crafted addition to this amazing series. The insecurities that the main characters had to navigate, keep this steamy story very intriguing.

A Bit Weak
Well this was decidedly average. It was just missing the spark and chemistry. I read it to the end but it was all a bit flimsy for me. A very average read.
