A must read for any one with diabetes who is serious about controlling their disease
Imagine if the Chief Medical Office of WebMD was your physician, and he was speaking directly to you. That is the experience of this book. It provides a detailed analysis of diabetes in a way that comes across as relatable and educational. More importantly, it provides actionable insights that every diabetic or prediabetic patient can implement in their daily lives. While I enjoyed the entire book, I found Chapter 7 to be exceptionally important. In that chapter, he discusses the distress of being diagnosed with diabetes, and the ongoing struggles in managing the disease. Far too often we focus on our glucose readings and HbA1c levels. This chapter highlights the human aspects of diabetes, which may be more important to patients dealing with the disease.A great read for any one interested in learning more about diabetes and optimizing their life to minimize the effects of it.

Relief for anyone who has family members with diabetes or diabetes themselves
Diabetes is a very real concern in my family and it has been embedded in my father's head that there is nothing that can do about it WHEN it happens. This is the book that I gave to my father to read and him to read it, and undue years of false beliefs. Dr. Whytes' writing style is easy to read and actionable with examples and recipes of how to approach a struggle for many American adults. If you have a family member whom you want to live a healthier lifestyle and need some support other than your words, I HIGHLY recommend this book. Kudos Dr. Whyte!

Dr Whyte explains in simple terms exactly what you need to do if you are diagnosed with prediabetes or diabetes. He acknowledges that some people need medications but many others could delay medication or come off with simple yet powerful behavior change. The meal and exercise plans are a great addition that too many books lack.
