So accessible and interesting!
The pictures are gorgeous and compelling, but as a teacher, I was even more impressed with the organization and explanation of vocabulary. It does not assume prior knowledge, presenting information in a way that is interesting and understandable. Well done!

Very informative!
I ordered this book to go along with our geode set we had purchased to learn more about rocks and minerals. It was actually one of the suggested items that showed up on the bottom of the page. Im so glad we found it though. This book is a smaller/thinner one, but it is filled with a lot of information and the pictures are bright and colorful. This was a great addition to our homeschool science curriculum and added more information for us to talk about. This is a national geographic book, so keep in mind it is strictly non fiction. This isnt a story book, and may be a little much for younger children to digest. My six year old loved it, but my four year old wasn't as interested in it.I think this would make a great addition to any home or classroom and can really help fuel children's love for rocks and minerals!

Science Exploration
The best series ever for young readers. It is very hard to find books for young readers that are based on the natural world. The photos are beautiful, the storyline is full of accurate, interesting, scientific facts about the subjects, and has a vocabulary building review at the back of the book. And each book in this series has several upside down jokes that reference the subject, an added point of interest for Montessori and all children. BTW, I have gotten more than 30 of these titles for my classroom. Highly recommended!

Excellent price & attention keeping informative book
Great informative book at a perfect price! Very nice photos and keeps the attention of my four-year-old while educating him on rocks and minerals! This would be a wonderful gift and children would enjoy receiving a book like this as well as parents would welcome a book over another toy!! Shipping was fast and the price was the most competitive on Amazon!!!!

Gift for 10 year old
I bought this with several other rock and mineral books for my daughter who collects rocks and minerals to study. This is a great book for young readers. The pictures are vibrant and detailed with enough information to satisfy or make them want more (in my case it was the later). Shipping and packaging was what I expected. 4 star only because of the very basic information within. If you have a more advanced child interested in rocks and minerals, this is a good starter but I would recommend a more advanced book. Still, the quality of the pictures in this book is amazing. Would rate a 4.5 if I could. The only complaint is not about this book but for National Geographic - please put out a book on this subject more for tweens. I can't believe my 10 year old is the only kid looking to really study rocks and minerals in-depth.

Thin but good
Excellent book that teaches children about rocks and minerals and where they come from. Nice colorful eye catching photos keep the children engaged, and the wording is easy to understand and illustrated for further explanation. Great value! Please note that this is a very thin book.

A great book for a rock collector
My son loves this book because it gives you a lot of information. It has lots of cool rocks in it. It has a cool picture of a HUGE sand castle that he loves to look at. It has a lot of other really cool pictures in it as well. This is great for a person who loves rocks.

Granddaughter loves it!
It really raised her interest in rocks and minerals. She is looking forward to their vacation along the north shore of Lake Superior this summer.
