Manonasa: A Spiritual Autobiography

This book is truly a rare gem when it comes to Spiritual Teachings. It clarifies so much how the ego distorts and uses spiritual teachings so it can continue. It serves to inspire one to follow the Direct Path sincerely. It illuminates the difference in approach between those who succeed in bringing the ego to an end and those who don't. If you want to see what Sincerity, Honesty and one-pointed devotion look like in actual practice, Michael's story is one of the best to read and contemplate.There is a section where Michael describes what led him to such an Intense Desire for Manonasa (mind death). This section alone is the most powerful teaching I have come across. Throughout the book he mentions that the ego in most people will have a negative reaction to the material. In his book "The Direct Means to Eternal Bliss", he suggests saving all arguments against the book until you have read it at least three times slowly. I think that suggestions is even more important with this book as it is extremely confrontational to the lies of the ego.This book is the direct antithesis to everything the ego believes. If you notice a negative reaction while reading, try doubting those reactions and see if they are really coming up as a way for the ego to continue. This book, along with a few others Michael has written/compiled form the foundation of a Direct Path to Truth that contains NO DISTRACTIONS or DETOURS! Through my experience exploring much of the worlds great Spiritual Teachings, this appears to be the first time in history that has been accomplished! There are no words I could use to describe the gratitude I have for discovering this Path!

I would have given this book six stars if I could. I am not even finished but I had to stop and write a review. I was amazed by the integrity of the author, how for example, he refuses to accept money from any of his students and how in July 2015, he suffered a heart attack but did not call an ambulance or a doctor because he could not afford to, yet did not ask any of his students for money. How many people do that, even so called enlightened beings? My only, only, only, only regret is that the author's books are not available on kindle which makes it difficult for people like me because books are heavy and I travel a lot, and if I have to carry paper books, not only do I have issues with airlines but also it is inconvenient. I plan to read this book every day as the author suggests. I truly believe this book is for serious students. Very students. This a very deep and profound gift of love from the author.

Very interesting book! Could not put it down. Saw many parallels with my own life on my own spiritual search, the ups and downs, the detours etc, before finally coming upon this simple path of Self-Realization. It is great to read the experience of an Awakened Sage (Michael Langford, the author, is one such). It is like a teaching by experience. Every experience, choices, action, consequence, stories, teaching moments etc, resonated with me fully. I have read this book several times now, and this, along with the other books by Michael Langford (SeeSeer.com) and all of them available on Amazon, have been priceless gems for me. Last 1 to 1.5 years, completely transformed my outlook, approach to self and life, with lot of re-prioritizations, as I know now what is the most important thing for me in this lifetime - attaining Manonasa! This is a phenomenal book and highly recommended because it gives practical instructions for how to accomplish the goal of Self-Realization. I can literally define my life as to how it was before, versus after reading and studying ML's books. Regular practice of his Awareness Watching Awareness meditation has created more profound changes in my personality and level of consciousness (and feelings of calmness and internal peace and bliss) than almost any other endeavor I've embarked on. To give an example from this book, ML says, "One hour of Self-Awareness practice from the heart produces more progress towards Manonasa than one thousand hours of Self-Awareness practice from the head." This one Direct teaching alone is worth 1000x the price of the book if actually put into practice. Thank you ML for living a life of service in order to help elevate those of us on the path. I know your work will help serious seekers for hundreds if not thousands of years in the future. Godspeed !

This is a very unique work, by a unique author. It represents the culmination of a set of teachings which include various nondual and direct paths. The large part of the book is written in an autobiography style, but including practical teachings from the stories that are included- hence it is not just another boring spiritual autobiography, but a practical teaching in itself. The author goes out of his way to really deliver something of value, and lay out his main methods which include 'awareness watching awareness', increasing love in one's life, and how to approach his unique teachings via other books he has written. Lastly, there are 20 steps given at the end which point the reader very specifically in the direction of how to attain 'manonasa' or the end of egoic suffering (ie. Self-realization). I'm a fan of the author's other books, which are very practical and helpful, and this one is no exception to the quality and enjoyable reading that Michael publishes.
