Fantastic images and instructions!
Recipes good, but not a lot of satiating foods to be for veg meals specifically.I found the illustrations very enlightening, due to difficulty i've had previously with not knowing exactly what items are meant to be used (language/regional differences) and how the end product should come out (sometimes a verbal description isn't quite enough to know what is expected.

there are about 40% content are the same with her " Vegetarian Cooking of India(2011)"
I have many Mridula Baljekar's book, but this one have too much come from her last book " Vegetarian Cooking of India(2011)", if you didn't have any of this two. I think this is a better version to have.

Great for vegetarians. So-so for vegans.
We have found some good recipes in this cookbook, but we wish it had more of them that are vegan, not just vegetarian.

Excellent! I have a made a couple meals and I have loved all of them. Some ingredients might be hard to find if you don't live in an urban center so just plan ahead.

Great Book but Caution Needed
I have two of her cookbooks: "Vegetarian Indian: Food and Cooking" & "The Complete Indian Regional Cookbook". First of all, I have to say that I really love her books. The instructions are well explained and there is a photo of every dish giving you some idea what it is supposed to look like. Also there are several step-by-step photos as well for each recipe. The food looks delicious and is approachable and looks easy to make. There is a short explanation about each recipe. Some background about where it comes from, etc. Each recipe has an English name but the Indian name is given as well which is very nice I think. There is a problem though. Every recipe I checked in the "Vegetarian Indian" cookbook (and I checked about 10) is also published in the "Indian Regional Cookbook". Same text, same photos, same tips, same name, same everything. Only the size of the two books is different. The vegetarian cookbook is very large and so the photos are larger. Now, the vegetarian cookbook obviously only contains the vegetable recipes. The Indian Regional Cookbook would contain all of the vegetable recipes as well as the non-vegetarian recipes. As I said above, I have not checked every single recipe. I checked about 10. So I can't say for sure that every single recipe in the "Vegetarian Indian" cookbook came out of the "Indian Regional Cookbook." But you better be careful.I am going to keep both books. I like the large photos. But this is the problem with not being able to leaf through the books like you can at a bookstore. I would have noticed immediately that this was a repackaged version. And Amazon's "LOOK INSIDE" feature does NOT give you enough pages of the actual body of the book to be helpful. I think the publisher should say that some of the material has been published in other books. If you don't have any of her books and you are a vegetarian, this is a great book. I highly recommend it! For the non-vegetarian, I suggest getting the other book: "The Complete Indian Regional Cookbook". It has more recipes, vegetarian and nonvegetarian.

high fiber regimen and likes a varirty of taste will love this book just for the pictures alone
I purchased it a while back and will be making the break from all meats within the next few months, I have a big freezer filled with tasty non- vegetarian things and it's more a health thing for me.Anyone who follows a caloric restriction, high fiber regimen and likes a varirty of taste will love this book just for the pictures alone, it's going to be a great starter book for the long road of years..

Absolutely love this book!
This is probably the best Indian cooking book out there. As a visual person that hates to cook, I greatly appreciate the amount of step by step images it shows... in such a beautiful layout too! It explains what things are and how to use them, which gets me into it even more. Definitely buy it :)

Hervorragendes vegetarisches Kochbuch
