Magritte in 400 images

As a lifelong fan of Rene Magritte as an artist I thought I had a good selection og books on him,then found this new one and I'm so glad I did and it was a revelation too. It's a beautifully produced book taking 400 of his most iconic paintings. It has a brief but great introduction to the artist, then it's divided into chapters each based around hases in Magritte's work.Ech chaptersection has a short text on that phase of his paintings,but mosyly this book is jut images of his paintings. It's beautifuly printed throughout and the reproductions of is images are really good. But what was a revelation for me, I thought I knew all of Magritte's paintings, and had most of them in all the other books I have in him.But I discovered this brilliant book by Julie Waseige publisshed by Ludion hgas a number of his paintings I had actually never seen before and didn't know he painted,plus other versions of paitngs by him I hadn't seen before. I sense the author has found paintings by magritte you won't find in other books which is quite an achivement. I really love this book and it's a real hommage to a great surrealist artist. The price is also really good too and I lovethe cover of this book too which uses his most famous painting "Son Of Man". A really great book and a great discovery for me of such a great book. The high quality pictures really do the artist's work justice. If you are a fan of Magritte or are new to his work this bok would bea a great one to start with. For fans like me,just enjoy looking through this wonderful book,it is almost like an exhibition of his work in book form. This book will not dissapont at all.

Well printed and presented though short on biographical info on the man himself.

Me encantó. Son ilustraciones de gran calidad. Aporta información importante sobre el autor y su obra. Es una manera sencilla, práctica y agradable de disfrutar y aprender sobre el arte de Magritte. Lo recomiendo.

Good overview of his work. Small size. Decent matte paper. No index. No bibliography. Enjoying the informative text, with its history of his career, and information on some of the influences on it. I like being able to see the paintings easily, in the order painted. One can see a progression in his technical ability easily, and the cycles of styles. However these are not large reproductions, so they are not as satisfying as large images. This book's strong point is being able to see about 400 paintings ( plus some black and white photos of the artist, & his friends & wife) easily in chronological order. The commentary is to the point & avoids the pretentiousness of much art commentary.

Non ricordo se nella descrizione del libro c'era la grandezza ma di sicuro mi aspettavo un libro più alto invece é quasi quadrato e piccolo e per questo le immagini sono molto rimpicciolite (addirittura non prendono tutta la pagina)! E' un grosso difetto per chi vuole un libro d'arte perché vuoi vedere le immagini meglio che si può! Poi non so ma... sembra che qualche opera famosa non ci sia. Di sicuro dovrò ricontrollare. Il libro in sé era confezionato con una pellicola trasparente ed è arrivato senza nemmeno un graffio o uno strappo, in condizioni perfette. E' in inglese quindi se siete bravi nella lingua come me non avrete problemi anche perché ci sono poche scritte e tutto spiegato in modo molto semplice.

ルネ・マグリットは特に好みの画家で画集が欲しいと思っていたのだが和書で良さそうなものがなくこちらを購入。かなりの点数の作品が入っていて非常に満足できた。年代によって1,2ページほど英語で解説があるのだがほとんどは絵なので英語が得意でなくても満足できるものだろう。１つ注意点としては思ったよりサイズが小さかったので、大きいサイズで見たいという方はそこに気をつけて欲しい。
