Tamper seal engages at first tightening; open and seal dies. "Leak proof" = lid super tight.
It's a bit underwhelming for the price, but it will hopefully do what I got it to do (still TBD on that). Not that I needed a tamper-resistant seal, but I was disappointed that my first tightening (almost a reflexive action when you first open the bag and pull one out) ruined that seal. Oh well, I couldn't use a one-time seal anyway for what I needed.As others have commented, the "leak proof" claim is a bit hyperbolic. I was able to get my test unit to stop leaking water when upside down by tightening the cap several times until I couldn't get it to move any more. That much tightening stopped the leaking in the moment, but I'm not sure it would stay leak-proof under temperature and pressure changes. Time will tell. The molded lip they have on the top of the bottle is supposed to deform and create a good seal, but such a seal requires a lot of deformation (a lot of cap tightening), and I don't think the hardness similarities between the bottle lip and the cap are conducive to a great seal. Not a 5-star product; I considered 3, but gave it 4 in the end.

Wash Carefully
These bottles are a good size but one was dirty inside & out. Sterilise before use.

It is not leak proof at all - does not even have a rubber seal
Description is simply NOT accurate. These bottles are certainly not leak proof and they certainly do not seal - in fact these bottles leak like a sieve because there is no rubber seal. I had to go to a hardware store to buy rubber seals in order to use these bottles. Would have returned them if I had had enough time before my trip.
