The Best of Rurouni Kenshin
...that even comes with the crappy movie. When I say the best I mean the prequel and sequel OVAs (especially the prequel). They're gorgeous, mature, moving, action packed and highly entertaining, with wellcrafted and believable stories, which are beautifully told.So not only is the content great, but the box itself is really cool and beatiful. Not to mention it's low price.

Very good product
Amazing box. got the collection of the OVA's, and the director s cut movie, it has some good extras, that will help you understand how powerfull the story is for those who helped to make it come true. The only negative thing, is that, this could very well be a Blu ray collection, isntead of regular DVD

that much for such a little thing!?
DON'T BUY THIS!It may say all collection! But it doesn't contain the Anime tv series!I love this packaging, the case is really good, neat and stylish! It only contains the Samurai X movie and the 6 OVA episodes! It doesn't contain the anime television series. You will need to watch or read the Manga to understand the characters for the Movie. But you don't need to know anything about Samurai X if you are to watch the OVA. Ova supposed to take place back when Kenshin was Battousai the Slayer.I had watched this before by downloading it back in the days. The first time I watched them, I though they were extremely boring because they had long silent boring scenes! Before buying this which the price was reduced down to £17.99 from £49!!!I thought so hard if I should buy this or not. Because back in the days, when I was a kid, I loved the anime tv series! I just said to heck with it and bought it...it has all and every collection. But I was wrong.Anyway...after watching the movie and OVA's before, I decided to watch them again. I started with the movie again at first.I seriously hate this movie, the movie was an adaptation of the Kenshin tv series. This movie was done properly, it felt like an actual movie from Japan, with betrayal, war, government, love etc This movie was good but now I hate Ruroruin Kenshin! The directing for the movie was really poor! Because they had a scene about Kenshin killing a guy, and they used that scene throughout the movie as flashbacks! Come on now, you only need that scene as a flashback 2 or 3 times in the whole movie. But in this movie, it was done over 10 times! Some scenes were pretty dumb and stupid! Like Kenshin was fighting this leader, they both performed a technique, the guy got hit badly and injured, Kenshin also got hit but never had an injury or bleed:/ It doesn't make sense!People who watched the movie but never watched the Anime series will find the character's confused. They should have added some extra character biography content in the DvD.The fight scene SUCKS!Now for the OVA. As I have watched it before and found it boring back when I was a kid. I decided to watch it because I am mature, back when I was small I was only interested in the fight.I will have to say...this Trust and Betrayal were TRULY AWESOME!The drawing is one of the BEST anime I have seen right next to Bible Black. The drawing animation was clean and sharp, plus they added some realistic effect to make the anime more real. The story was awesome! It felt like Romeo and Juliet, and I love the tension. As for the fight scene, its compact sick! In the anime tv series, after watching some couple of fight clips on Youtube, I found how rubbish the fight scenes were! OVA fight scene is really nice, mature and realistic. And you will love the violence in it! When Kenshin's family were murdered, you will be so surprised with that level of violence! It was meant to be realistic. But it wasn't realistic enough, because women were protecting Kenshin, they killed them without the men raping them. Which obviously you know that will happen in real life. But developers didn't want sexual things which is good!As for the Reflection. This was the OVA I found boring! And I still found it boring again! I couldn't barely watch the last episode, I had to skip it! This OVA supposed to be the adaptation of the Anime tv series merged with the original Trust and Betrayal. Once again, if you knew about the characters, you will recognise them. In this, they never had any role, it was just about Kenshin and Kori.I love the concept, how Kenshin who cannot be killed, but the only thing that can kill him is a disease. The fight scene in this wasn't an improvement! It felt like Trust and Betrayal but not as good as it.But come on! £49 for all this collection! That is seriously expensive and day light robbery. But I don't like Reflection and the Movie. I think I might sell this collection and get the Trust and Betrayal alone. If you love the anime series, you will glady love all of it.Before I was trying to find a way to get the anime tv series collection. But this OVA made me re-think. The only good thing about the tv series was the story, it draws you into it and makes you want to watch episodes after episodes.Don't bother with the subtitles, it writes different things than what you hear:/ Still love the packaging! But I rate it 6/10

Good but not that good
If you like your samurai action as in Ninja Scroll this is probably not the best series, when there is action its good but there is precious little of it. In my opinion Samurai Champloo (full series) is full of actionpacked sword play. If you, like me, bought Samurai X first and are a little apprehensive about purchasing another samurai series fear not the first disc alone of Samurai Champloo is worth all of the Samurai X series put together so buy Samurai Champloo instead. P.S. anyone want a secondhand Samurai X box set?

Edgy, Suspenseful and Worth the Buy!
All fans of "Rurouni Kenshin/Samurai X" will surely love this complete box OVA/OAV set. It is very suspenseful and holds your attention till the ending of this tragic-yet-happy tale. When buying this box set, you are getting your money's worth. Usually, this box set runs anywhere from 90-100 USD in some stores, but on Amazon, it practically cuts it in half. This product does not appear to be a bootleg and is very accurate on the subtitles. There is also another OVA/OAV box set that has a black box and is a little more expensive. Personally, I favor this one. In the other box set, you do not get the following:Reflection: Director's CutTrust & Betrayal: Director's Cut(Rurouni Kenshin/Samurai X) The Motion Picture*ReflectionTrust & Betrayal*The Motion Picture is sometimes listed as Japanese only when searching for the "Language" on some sites, such as this, but with this DVD box set, it DOES come in English and also in Japanese, with English subtitles.(All DVDs = English/Japanese with English subtitles)That is what you get in this box set, besides the wonderful box art and the beautiful DVD cover art.[Risk]The risk of purchasing this box set, or any box set for that matter, is damage to the box itself, not necessarily the DVDs, but hey, sometimes it happens.Note: On the side of the box, you may see a small logo that says: Rurouni Kenshin or Samurai X. They are both the same.Little kids should not be watching this. The suggested rating in my eyes would be at least an audience that is mature enough to handle the dialog and the little suggestive themes that are featured. Roughly: 16+Also: The title is a little misleading, considering it only says 'Samurai X - Complete', but this is NOT the Anime, it is the OVA/OAV collection.

A Masterpiece
This box set comes with the 3 OAVs "Trust and Betrayal", "Samurai X: The Movie" and "Reflections" plus the director's cut for "Trust and Betrayal" and "Reflections". The quality of the artwork, animation and music is better than excellent. The story is dark and tragic with deep philosophical themes of war, idealism, politics, loyalty, and romance. A lot of action and bloodshed. This box set should preferably be watched after watching seasons 1 and 2 of Rorouni Kenshin the TV Series. "Trust and Betrayal" tells the story when Kenshin is the top assassin of the Meiji Imperialist fighting to topple the Togugawa shogunate in Japan. "Trust and Betrayal" is a prequel to the TV series which shows Kenshin's life after the revolution and how he fought to protect the peace during the early years of the Meiji government. "Reflections" is highly philosophical, it shows Kenshin and his wife many years after the end of the TV series. "Reflections" is a sequel to the TV series, it shows the final days of Kenshin's life, how he obeyed imperial army orders to fight in the first Sino-Japanese war even when he was terminally ill.Rorouni Kenshin is just a story but the events in the TV series and OAVs are historically accurate. It is best viewed in Japanese dialogue with English subtitles. This is a great story about war and romance. A tragedy. This is a must have for any Kenshin or anime fan. I'm happy to have added this title to my collection. Now for the not so good comment. I was disappointed with the packaging design. I had expected the normal DVD sleeves with insert/brochur for each disk instead of thin sleeves and no detail inserts or scene selection features.

The best seller
So I went to these guys and competition with the same simple question- "do you have pictures? It's used and I'm picky." These guys replied instantly and was more than happy to go out of their way to take the pictures!!The competition sent me a message back saying "we don't pull items off the shelf unless they're being sold."So I bet you can guess who I went with. ;] my box set came in great condition, I binged all the DVD, cries, had beautiful nostalgic feelings, and over all a great experience. Thank you guys so much <3

An Amazing Piece of Artwork
I have always been a fan of the original Rurouni Kenshin series and this complete collection of the OVA is but the topping for an amazing series. The artwork is incredible. The use of CG was correctly used and didn't take away from the experience. The sound was also great as well as the video quality in general. I have two very minor problems with this OVA though despite the fact that i believe it to be near flawless would be 1. The menus are rather dull. Virtually no extras are offered being that this is somewhat of a collectors edition and 2. The American voice acting like most anime is horrible. I would highly recommend while thinking of buying this fine product that you first of all don't rely heavily on the menus, it is the anime you are buying it for and second, put the audio in Japanese; the voices sound better and you get more of the story because they edited some elements out during their translation process. Other than this I would say that this collection is perfect for any anime collector. You will not be disappointed.
