Korean Film Directors: PARK Chan-wook

Great introduction to a great Korean director
PARK Chan-wool is a fantastic Korean director with a love of b movies & he makes his films in his own way. However, he has great admiration for the actors/actresses and no mattter what the critics or audience think he will strive to film his stories in his own way. There is a synopsis of each film, interviews with him where he poses direct answers to reasons behind the different films and this can then let you rewatch the films from his perspective, a biography of the director and a filmography. This book has now got me buying additional films as I have become interested in the synopsis and now require to view same. A great buy for film bufffs and there are numerous other books available from the Korean Film Institute about other Korean directors which I will be reading.

A Worthy Purchase
Despite its small size, this book has plenty of info to help appreciate PARK Chan-Wook's movies (up thru _Cyborg_). The sections are as follows: Intro; On the Director; Interviews; Biography; Synopsis; and Filmography. It's pretty readable, though there are occasionally some rarefied lit-crit bits here and there. I've scoured other resources for info on PARK, and this book surpasses most of them. Only complaint: though PARK himself referred to the "Cut" segment of _3...Extremes_ as one of his favorite works, it basically is given only a synopsis. I found "Cut" to be pretty funny, and wish they'd covered it more in this book.

Informative
This book is very good at explaining about Parks movies up to Cyborg. I'm a big fan of Parks movies and would recomend this to his fans. For it's size it covers a lot of information and a good interview section with Park.
