And the Memories Bring Back….
Wow! This was intense. I.Did.Not.Want.To.Put.It.Down. Yes, it is one of those books! Trigger Warnings: This book contains EXTREMELY disturbing situations and EXCEEDS the dark genre. It may have triggers for some. Read at your own risk!!A.A. Dark is a new author to me. I had “Never Far” and a couple of other books from this author on my TBR for a while. But I am so glad I dived into this one. It sure packs a punch for such a short book - 142 pages.I love amnesia stories, but many are the same. “Never Far” takes it far. Author A.A. Dark writes an exciting perspective that shows readers Boston’s (MMC) memories while he’s in a coma. We also see bits and pieces of his memories unfold when he wakes up as he struggles with his pre and post-amnesia self.“Never Far” is Book 1 of 5 of The Chronicles of Anna Monroe and Boston Marks.

I have mixed feelings about this book. It was dark AF, which was expected. For something so dark, it seemed awfully rushed. I feel like the author missed some opportunities to show their relationship in it’s crucial beginning stages.Spice: 3/5Triggers: all of them

Sooo captivating
I absolutely loved this book. Even though it was a short read you do not feel it because you are sooo deep into the story. It has me on the edge of my couch the entire time. I was so torn for Boston. I kept thinking no no there's no way he's a bad guy then immediately falling back on yes this guy is insane.I love books where it keeps you guessing and this one definitely had me whiplashed. I was for all of it. It is so dark and gruesome even and honestly I was surprised at that. I didn't think it was going to go there but it did and I was here for it. I definitely need to read the other books that connect with this novella. This was my first book by AA and I will confidently say it will not be my last.

Holy moley!
Boston is the perfect obsessive, psychotic unaliver. Lucy is sweet and innocent. Boston has been pining after her since childhood. While this does have an HEA, the dark elements are incredibly well-described. Boston is unapologetically manipulative and will do everything in his power to keep his obsessive hold on Lucy. I really liked this horror erotica novella!

Again A.A. Dark leaves me at....
A loss for words. This introduction to Boston Marks gives the bully\crazy guy vibes or does it? Boston doesn't like when you mess with the girl he's loved since childhood. Lucy is a small town girl trying to survive her abusive brother, Jeff. Boston and Jeff are best friends but who is telling the truth when a death occurs and Boston is suffering from amnesia? This book is dark and intense.

I think I found my new favorite dark author
I seriously loved how this story unfolded. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but by the end of the story I was left wanting more and really appreciated A.A. Darks writing. When she was writing from Bostons point of view I felt like was really in his mind. It was intense. I am unsure how I feel about him, but I can appreciate his character. Anna was a good balance and I was surprised by her actions at times. However, I feel like I don’t know enough, but I also think there is more to her story. The whole story was a wild ride and I couldn’t get enough. Already diving into book 2 in this series…

Short dark read
While I love romance and comedy, I also enjoy reading the darker more creepy books as well. Never Far is about Boston, his best friend Jeff, and Jeff's sister Lucy. Boston and Jeff were filming a movie when a freak accident happened and Boston ended up in a coma. When he finally wakes up, the only person he remembers is Lucy.Never Far is a suspenseful mind eff that has you turning the page trying to figure out what's going to happen next and what really happened to put the characters where they are. Which character is being truthful and which one is telling a lie? I only wish it was longer. I wanted more detail about the incident in the cabin. I wanted to see more of the characters' past to get a better picture of their friendship. I wanted to see more of Boston and Lucy. I just needed a little more.

between 2 and 3
This story is listed as pitch black. Still not sure what that means exactly. However, I don’t explore much this category not because I’m afraid of not being able to cope with too dark and twisted situations. It’s just that the equation “the more blood and sex and twisted situations are there, the more interesting the story is” does not really work for me. Quite the opposite.I realized by now that I am more excited anticipating what's going to happen, if the author is really good at creating suspense or sexual tension between the MCs, than when things actually happen. Hope this makes sense. That being said, this book didn’t completely work for me for more than one reason.First the H.I generally love to read about obsessive, deranged characters, just to get a taste of something different from what I normally have to deal with. But I love my Hs to be strong and confident enough to be somehow open about what they really are with, at least with the h.The male lead character here was… I don’t know, boring. He came across as weak and totally codependent.I need Lucy. I have to be with Lucy all the time. I can’t function without Lucy.He just annoyed the hell out of me.Apart from being with Lucy and cutting up people, he didn’t seem interested in anything else. Moreover, he hided his true nature to her, changing behavior to please her. Something I truly didn’t like. And as for Lucy, I’m afraid she didn’t seem to me the sharpest tool in the shed.I had a hard time also trying to buy all the background story, maybe because a lot of details were missing, and what was given to the reader wasn’t enough for me to create a solid, believable framework. So, this reading was between 2 and 3 stars for me.
