I work in a grocery store and have hair that reached my butt.... obviously, it must be contained somehow, even if I am working the freezer. My hair gets stuck in everything. Some days I go all out and use on of those bizarre donut bun things, but they require patience and pins, AND at the end of the day my scalp aches a bit. These screw type pins are my more common go to, and thanks to the value compared to the 2 or so you can buy at target, I can keep a few in my purse just in case. All you do is twist your hair into a rope, curl it up like a snake (?) and screw in one pin to the loose ends and another to secure (I usually put mine in at opposite directions towards each other. No pins, no muss, no problem. SO fast and easy.They also do a nice job at a french twist and (if you buy a smaller size) hold the ends of braids to your head if you are doing crown/base of the neck crossing pigtail type style SUPER securely, meaning less pins in your laundry, on your floor, in the couch, in the shower, at your significant other's place, etc).These are my new favorite go to for a lazy lady who wants her hair out of her way and also to look fancy as heck.

These things are great! I had the goody 2 pack forever and lost them. I find using 3 works a lot better, they hold hair so well! Good price. Only wish you could get a lighter color than black.

Great spin pins. I was hesitant to purchase another brand. I usually purchase the Goody spin pins. These looked slightly thinner and I was worried they might bend inward easily, but they feel just as tough as the Goody brand I've been purchasing for years. The spiral pin is in the center (black one), and a regular Goody, and a small Goody spin pin are on the outside. For extra long hair, you might still want the longer spin pins for an extra secure hold, but these spiral pins are still a great size and work well too. They have the smooth, rounded ends just like the Goody brand. I definitely like the price and the fact that you get more than double the amount than you would in a Goody set. I have not had them long enough to know if the black finish will flake off quickly. The Goody brand has slightly peeled but these are years old and have had a ton of use. I do recommend these pins and will purchase them again in the future.

This was my first introduction to spin pins, and I thought they were pricey. But I've wasted money on not-so-great hair solutions before, so why not, right. And then they arrived, and I was disappointed at the flaws on a couple of the pins, given the price. I bought a second pack, and I was annoyed to see even more flaws. There was a huge prickly wad on the entry point of one of the pins, which was frankly offensive quality control, seeing as how these pins were a dollar each.Anyway. A hammer and sandpaper, plus a dab of flexible acrylic, took care of that. I've also bought cheaper pins to compare. At first those pins were fine, but soon the paint started flaking. Unraveling? It was bizarre. And probably environmentally unfriendly. In comparison, these pins are looking better now. They may not have been a bargain, and there's a chip here and there, but overall the paint stays where it belongs, and I find these reliable to use.

Is very easy to use and easy removal.

these are amazing - can pin up a HUGE amount of very long hair (down to her butt) with just 4 of these, this is what used to take about 2 dozen or more bobby pins and TWO hair ties. Ideal to pull up a nice and neat bun for ballet, then young daughter can easily remove the 4 spirals on her own to have a regular ponytail for dance classes that come after ballet (where bun isn't required). They worked so well, my older daughter asked me to get her her own set, which I did. She has MEGA thick hair, shoulder length, just ridiculously thick (she needs the extra extra large hair ties) and even on HER it only takes 4 of these for a gorgeous bun. I recommend positioning them north-south-east-west like a square. No more hair nets required for neat hair buns! I only wish they had them in brown, but I guess that doens't matter, because honestly they don't really show unless you're really looking.

This review is for the two inch (2") spin pins. (TLDR: 1. If you have thick hair get 2.5 inch spin pins 2. Half of the pins in this package were not usable.)They work, in that they will hold hair in place. I like spin pins for lots of different styles. They are much easier for most heavy styles than traditional bobby pins. With these pins, the shorter length meant that for waist-length, thick hair, I needed 4 pins instead of 3 to hold it securely in a smooth bun. I am able to use my normal 3 for a messy bun. I also noticed that the shorter pins also work themselves loose as the day goes on, and I keep having to push them back again.The finish on these pins was also disappointing. The tip covering was not smooth - on a few it had a pointy spot. The metal on 4 of the pins (half of the 8 in the package) was rough in places. These pins kept snagging my hair and I cannot use them.With 8 pins in the package, I thought these were inexpensive enough to give them a try. But between needing more pins to get the job done, and not having a full pack of good pins, overall these were not a good value for the price.

I have an incredibly thick head of hair and these still do wonders! I suffer from migraines so hate anything right but I want my hair secure so these are perfect! Work on thin hair too
