Mr Finchley Goes to Paris (Classic Canning Book 2)

Standards from another time.
This story is from the now bygone era of the late 1930s, an age of innocence despite the threat from Germany. The hero goes to Paris on a legal errand meeting encounters and escapades on the way. There are no characters to dislike in this book; all behave with exemplary degrees of honour. And that's not to say there are wimps; there aren't. Problems are faced, solutions sought and achieved. Great fun.

Don,t bother to read it if you want sex and violence,
Mr Finchley Goes to Paris.mWhat a lovely, gentle book. Delightfully written and a glance back at earlier life before technology overtook us.Have now read the rest of his books and followed Mr Finchley's escapades with great pleasure.

Second in the series of Mr Finchley
I love these books. However, I have read the series in the wrong order but it didn't matter too much. The book follows the adventures of Mr Finchley who is sent on a business trip to Paris with some unexpected consequences. Written in a time of innocence it is a joy to read.

A gentle pleasing well written read
Well written and characters are comfortably drawn and such a pleasant change from raucous self indulgent contemporary writing. If it was a car my analogy would be a wonderful day out for a picnic in your dads Standard Vanguard - this is an easy read from 1937 and I loved it.

not on par with Mr Finchley discovers his England
I did enjoy this book, but nowhere near as much at Mr. Finchley discovers his England. I love the way Canning describes places so vividly. The book was full (as usual) of colourful characters. A charming easy read but sadly just lacking.
