Glocusent Lightweight 10 LED Eye Care Clip-on Book Light for Reading in Bed was just received. Here’s my immediate impression. I unpacked it from the box. You get the book light, a USB A/B(old regular /full size) to USB C (small plug size) cable — about 2 ft long—, instruction booklet and a piece of black card stock, smaller than a business card, “book mark”. The USB C plug you plug into the light on it’s base. Then—if like me, you don’t have a gazillion different devices and primarily use a laptop that only hasUSB C ports, you say to yourself…"Ut oh!" but… not a big one. In my accessories box I have adapters, both the small dual plug only variety and the ones with a few inches of cord between the two ends. When I plugged the USB end of the light cord into the USB adapter and the other end into my MacBook,a red light came on next to where the charging cord plugs into the light. Not having read the instructions, because I felt it was pretty self explanatory— plug it in, get it charged and use— I ‘m guessing that redlight means it’s charging. There are two switches on top of the light head—opposite from the LED side. One turns it on & off and one cycles thru the various light modes or colors. I’m glad to see the on/off switch is separate from the light modes. It would make me nuts if I had to cycle through all the modes to turn this light off. One press turned it on and….. it worked. At this point I have to say I’m a traditional MightyBrite clip-on book light user of many—many—years. I haven’t bought one for probably at least 10-12 yrs, which attests to their durability.Whether their newer ones are different or not, I don’t know, but this review will compare this lightto the old ones I’m familiar with based on my memory. For the past yr or so I’d gotten away fromreading books daily couldn’t find any of my old ones, thus requiring the purchase of anew book light. I probably put it somewhere where I’d easily locate it—then couldn’t when I looked. This is smaller every which way. The clip-on base is smaller; the neck is shorter and the head is smallerin both length and width. There are 3 light modes: amber, warm white and a cool, white, brighter one. There is no density setting for each color -what you see is what you get. My old lights had one color and2 or 3 densities. I almost always used the brightest. My old lights required 3 AAA batteries or you couldget a separate adapter to plug directly into an electric outlet, but it was not rechargeable like this one.I bought AAA’s in bulk. To be honest, the batteries didn’t bother me. As they became worn the light gotdimmer and when it was too dim, it was time to replace them but I got more than enough reading timebetween changes that it was not a big thing. The other lights were so bright, on the brightest, I couldshine ‘em across the room or use like a flash light. This one isn’t unless it gets a lot brighter as it getsfully charged. Right now I have it clipped onto my laptop display and turned on. It’s gotten dark outside as I’ve composed this and I haven’t turned on another light yet. This means, you can use it while it’s charging, but probably also means it will take longer to get fully charged. I should add I have a 16” MacBook Pro and the entire display is well lite by this little light, as well as the rest of this laptop, so it should light both pages on almost any size book.I can’t address how long it takes to charge, or how long a charge lasts. I also can’t address if it’s lighterweight and compactness are better for use than my old ones nor whether it’s as durable.I’m not sure how well I’ll like this one. It means when I’m reading, should it require recharging, I’dhave to get out my laptop and the adapter to plug it into to recharge v. just grabbing 3 fresh batteriesand replacing the old ones so I could go on reading. I’ve been known to go on reading binges—you knowlike streaming binges but reading instead of watching something, reading almost all day and all night—maybe for several days in a row. I do this lying in bed, so juggling everything to recharge and beingrestricted by the length of the cord may prove to be a pain in the neck for me and the way I use it.For those who have numerous devices and are always recharging something, you probably have multiplemore convenient means of doing so.I may have another option that will work for me. I bought a new “desk lamp” to use as my bedside lamp when I bought this book light. When my old one died, I couldn’t get another like it so I bought the best I could find. It doesn’t swivel. The arm does but not the head. I guess I just got spoiled by my old one that easily swiveled every which way and I loved it, but after yrs of day & night use, it finally died on me. It’s replacement doesn’t swivel easily in the one place it’s suppose to swivel and I can only raise or lower the light head. I found a new one that swivels in both places and has a USB port for charging things. It may be, that when I get it set up, it’ll prove to be a convenient way to charge this book light when not in use. I’ll run into problems again with the 2 ft. cord, should I want to read while charging. Also, I noticed almost all the new desk lights, now have the controls flat on the base instead of elevated on the arm.Probably more convenient for those who actually use as a desk lamp..but not as easily reached whenlaying a few feet way on the opposite side of the bed. That also means setting things on the base may not work and I do that all the time. Setting this book light on it while charging, may turn the light on or off or change the intensity of light. We’ll see…. I do know putting my insulated water glass on it willbe a no-no.I’m giving this book light 4 stars because of the unknowns as I write this and because of the restrictions I’ve noted in recharging v. just simply replacing batteries. Maybe I should give it 6 stars because recharging is better for the environment though not as convenient for me. If there are problems, if it doesn’t hold up to my use or requires charging too frequently, I’ll update this review. I hope the pros and cons noted help others choose a good book light for their in bed reading use. There are slight differences in the various ones offered on Amazon and we all use them differently having our own individual requirements.

Small, lightweight, easy to use and POWERFUL reading light!
I have several book lights gathering dust at my house. This light attaches easily to hardbound and paperback books. Light enough not to fall off or bend book. There are several light amounts and colors. Just keep pushing buttons up and down until you like it for the location you are in. It will curl right up to stuff in your purse or travel case to go with you easily. Highly recommend.

Very helpful
I love how there are three color schemes (bright white, blue white, and yellowish light) along with three intensities for each type of color. There are two switches on the top of the light (above the bulb) that make it easy to turn on, adjust color and intensity, and turn off—all without having to tap through each combination. The neck is very flexible so I can bring the bulb down the page if needed to keep the light only on the book. The clip is super lightweight so it still works well on a paperback without sagging backward. Charged once upon arrival a month ago. I use it every night for 5-15 minutes and still haven’t needed to recharge it yet.

An excellent, lightweight book light.
This light is small in size, but big in performance. I was a little alarmed at how small and light the box was when it arrived - to the point where I was worried that it was either the wrong product, or that the book light would be toy-like. I needn't have worried. This light is much smaller and much lighter in weight than my previous rechargeable LED book light - but it performs even better and has a few more useful features. It is very well designed and solidly constructed. The light is bright and dispersion is good; it easily lights a standard paperback or hardback book, pages open. The three colors of light are about as expected - except that the amber color setting is very, very warm. Think campfire-embers type warm. The three colors are easily selected by a toggle on the top of the light head. I read by the mid-range light. The amber light is useful if we want to use this book light as a kind of bed-side night light if someone is climbing into bed later. The three light levels are also as-expected, and range from fairly dim to quite strong. They're fine - and easily selected by another button on the top of the light head. It would be nice to have a simple on/off switch instead of having to toggle through the light levels (which are: dim, mid, bright, and 'off'), but that's not a big complaint. The other benefits and features of this light more than offset this shortcoming. This Glocusent book light runs circles around my older light. It just does the job better and is easier to live with ... and handsomer to look at, too. There might be better book lights out there, but I haven't see one that beats this. We'll be ordering another.

Perfect!
My vision has started declining with age and beginnings of macular degeneration. And I love to read. This light is perfect with 3 different color lights and brightness levels. I can now see to read at night and in low light rooms.

For those who like to read books in bed
I still like to read in bed BUT I don't want to illuminate the entire room while doing it so I finally broke down and bought a clip-on night light. This one comfortably clips to the book and adjusts easily to ensure proper lighting on the book's pages. An additional added benefit is that the light's brightness can be altered from a white light to an amber coloring which works great at easing eye strain. Very happy with my purchase.

Love this book light!
So glad I took the time to look at various models & reviews before purchasing. I feel that I got the perfect one! The color tone & brightness settings are great, as well as being USB rechargeable. Easy to use. Grips pages without leaving a mark.

Very impressed with the brightness, small size and overall quality
Smaller than I expected but nice and bright, good quality grip and good battery life. An idea gift for the book worms in my family.

At last I can read in the dark!
I love this light. Bought one for my 9 year old granddaughter who loved it so I treated myself to one. It’s great and the battery charge lasts a long time.

Great little light
Bought this for my wife as her old light was taken away by my daughter. The light is much lighter than the old one and my wife just loves the yellow setting. The yellow setting is definitely easy on the eyes during dark conditions and is partner friendly in that it doesn’t wake me up! The battery life is fantastic and easy to charge with the usb on our phone chargers. It’s the also the perfect size (smaller than the old one we had). I’m glad I bought this and would recommend to anyone looking for a useful tool for those who like reading in the dark.
