Cage Attachment for Silent Runner Exercise Wheels (Large)

The attachment slides down the bars a little bit. It works great after we added a shim.

Works great, wheel is totally silent except for the adorable pitter patter of little rat feet. Now Betty can run as much and as fast as she pleases without the wheel walking into a corner and getting stuck. Used with a Midwest critter nation enclosure. (Only problem now is storing the default giant hunk of metal that used to hold the wheel.)

The rating I have given is based on a problem that is technically out of Exotic Nutrition's hands, but not entirely: my hamster's cage is mostly vertical bars. So, after a tough assembly (will explain in a bit) of the attachment itself, the wheel just kept sliding down to the bottom of the cage. I had to actually cut out a small piece of cardboard and put it behind the cage and wheel, so the lock washer and all that could sit on top of it and the cardboard can hold it up. To me, that's ridiculous. Surely there's a way to make this stuff a bit more... universal?Another problem I had was the actual assembly. The Silent Runner wheel has a plastic cover on the front of it with openings just big enough for your little pet to climb through and get in. Good luck fitting your hand through that so you can feed the bolt through the bearings which happen to be located in the dead center of the wheel, which is covered entirely by that plastic cover. My hands were killing me, and I have small hands. I still had trouble. The wheel is barely 4 inches deep, but the bolt itself is 2 inches long. That is not enough room to work with, man. I had to use a pair of scissors to hold the bolt and move it in there since they were thinner and had a longer reach, and even then I still had trouble.All those problems aside, it does make the wheel very quiet so it finally earns the title of "Silent" Runner. Because without it, it's more like "Here, Let Me Bang Against the Stand and Sound Like Yoko Ono's Music on One of Her Bad Days All Night" Runner. I just really wish that:1. The attachment could somehow be fitted onto vertical bars without sliding down.2. There was a way to remove the plastic face of the wheel. I couldn't find a way and I think it's a neat design so small animals don't trip and fall out of the wheel, but... dang, think of the pet owner's convenience too, guys.

I lost some of the hardware to mount my wheel to the cage without the stand. I was pleasantly surprised to learn of the availability of this kit. It has everything you need. I was able to mount the wheel for my new hamster, eliminating a lot of noise and making her much happier. I paid $10US for this kit and it was well worth it.

The pieces were supposed to be used to attach the exercise wheel I bought 4 or 5 years ago to the cage after I had to separate boys who just can't be in the same cage. The pieces I received are made of plastic and are so thick that the original screw is too short and won't work. I had bought one of these for my other rat cage a few years ago. It was made of metal and works perfectly. The new pieces are so thick that along with the width of the spacer there is no way to attach them with the original screw. So I had to use the original stand which meant taping it to the floor so that it won't slide around. That, of course, also takes up more room because it can't be flush with the cage walls. So very disappointing. If I had known that I'd have just skipped it and saved the money. I'll try to find a screw that will work but to me the pieces should either be the right thickness or a screw that will work should be included.

Do not buy the silent runner without this attachment.The stand it comes with it worthless. My rats love using the wheel and I love the sanding track. However the stand isn't heavy enough to hold the wheel in place. It moves as the run on it. It is super light so the rats can move it around the cage. They knocked it over one night so I secured it to the cage using plastic hooks followed by shower curtain hooks because they chewed up the plastic ones.My rats also decided to use it as a litter area. So it got so gross.Now the wheel is attached to the side of the cage. It is much more secure. The rats don't pee in that area any more either. I'm so happy.

Good product does get the job done and it is definitely useful for your hamsters cage to place it anywhere and it is silent.

I assume a lot of people here had bought the wheel online, I bought mine in a store so I knew this attachment wasnt included. Other than that misconception, this attachment is the best thing ever. Got it for my sugar glider who absolutely abuses the wheel and the last two weeks have been so much quieter. Great buy, does its job and I haven't had a single problem yet

Ein wenig schwer aber dafür stabil. Der Hamster hat keine Verletzungsgefahr. Im Gegensatz zu Holzplatten auch keine Bruchgefahr und sie sind schön dünn.

Passt alles zusammen, simpel montierbar. Wer ein Käfiggitter hat ist dieses Gimmick perfekt, spart vorallem Platz und ist optimal für die Rodipet "Silent Runner"
