Nicely rounds out collection of vehicle books
My 3.5 year old loves vehicles books with lots of pictures of vehicles for him to pore over. I was on the fence about this book because the format looked like a win but he prefers photos, and these illustrations seemed especially simple. I neednโt have worried. He loves this book, especially the silly cars. I think it makes a nice contrast with his big nonfiction DK visual books about vehicles.

Poop car stole the show.
What an off the wall awesome book. At first, my 2 year old was not sure what to do with this book, but once I pointed out the poop car, she loved it. I really like how Johanson mixes up the real with the imaginary, as it keeps your brain switching between the two. There are pages of actual vehicles, like a page for firefighter equipment, construction equipment, diggin equipment, etc with pages of just completely crazy and impratcial cars in between. The pictures are very modern and clean. It's certainly a book that is meant to be left out and explored as both kids and adults will enjoy it. No text aside from labels.

perfect for car-obsessed kids
Got this amazing book for my car-obsessed son. The illustrations are so beautiful and all of the different cars are so clever! It has the perfect mix of real and imagined cars. I think my favorite is the Jules Verne car. I saw a couple of negative reviews that think the whole concept is ridiculous and not educational. I have to strongly disagree. While this book is playful in tone, my son is learning some great vocabulary words such as "excavator" and "decompressing" as well as learning about different artists, places, objects, and animals. If you have a good sense of humor and encourage imaginative thought, you won't regret buying this one.

The illustrations are imaginative and fun for both of us to look at
My 2.5 yr old daughter loves this book. The pages alternate between "real" cars (i.e. fire trucks, tractors) and "pretend" cars (i.e. cake car, eiffel tower car). The illustrations are imaginative and fun for both of us to look at. It does take a while to get through the book in one sitting (there are a LOT of cars to feast your eyes on!). The author must be European, because some of the cars are named differently than an American would name them (i.e. "chip" car is really a car full of french fries). Highly recommend.

Silly and engaging.
This is a silly kind of book. And yes there are some ridiculous cars but that is what my five year really liked about the book. And when it came in and I let him have it, he was as my mother described--- glued to the book. Now I didn't appreciate some of the humor of the types of silly cars such as the "poo car" but my 5 year old thought that was so very funny--- that's funny to a 5 year old =). He already reads fluently and enjoyed reading the book to his little brother, pointing out this aspect of a car or another. So all in all it is a thumbs up as far as he is concerned. It reminds me of books from the 1960's/1970's, those engaging word books that are filled with pictures and simple phrases/descriptions underneath. Perhaps it is the illustrations. They just seem older to me, not like the new stuff coming out. And I liked that about the book. It's not flashy, and it engaged our 5 year old with the fun and silliness =).Per Cover: This is the first English edition in 2016. First published in Sweden 2015. Published in US. A little random but
Beautifully illustrated, if not a tad weird! It really pulls on children's imagination though and many a laugh has been had about the oddities throughout. A family favourite.

Great book
This keeps my 3 year old busy for ages! He loves spotting all the crazy cars on each page. We have the plane version too - which is very similar (obviously) I donโt think having both copies is needed to be honest!
