Q: Has anyone purchased foil pie tins to store the pies in? If so, what size should I buy?

I think a 4 inch would be ok. They never last around here long enough to need a tin.

Q: does this machine make pie like coconut cream or open faced pies?

No, it's for pies that use an upper & lower crust. Fruit or savory type pies. You close the lid for cooking so it would make a mess and probably not cook properly at all without an upper crust.

Q: Is it possible to just make ( bake ) a crust with no filling ?

I wouldn't think so. They do very well with two crusts and a little filling. A tart pan or cupcake pan would work better for just crusts in about ten minutes. This machine is awesome for filled pastry and so fast! I admit I haven't tried one crust though.

Q: Did anyone buy a separate pastry book for receipes?

It was a gift to my daughter. She does not have a recipe book. She just tries different things.
