I wish that I had this book prior to my transition/retirement from Active Duty.The information presented here helps you understand the importance of your service out-processing, medical history and VA claim procedures!Then he lays out all the many benefits available in simple terms, so you know right away whether this applies to you or not. And of course, with links to additional source information.This book is totally worth your time and should be given to any/every departing Service Member during their transition to civilian life!

I ordered two books, this one and Brian Reese’s book, both on VA disability claim management. Brian’s is FAR more detailed, Paul’s seems to just be a surface level rehash of what he learned the 3 short years he was at VA. Skip Paul’s book if you really want to know how to file a disability claim.

Most if not all of this information is free online. If you don't have internet access then yea it might be worth the buy.

I found this to be very a helpful and easy to understand. I liked the way it was broken down. My hubby is a veteran and this book has some great information for us to use.

The military offers many benefits and it can be difficult to navigate through each. I've found that prior to this book there wasn't one single resource that was comprehensive. The author of this book is extremely knowledgable in regards to veterans benefits. He is the former Under Secretary for Benefits in the Department of Veterans. The book is organized well and contains a lot of helpful and useful information as well as links for more resources. The eligibility for each benefit is also listed which is very helpful. I highly recommend all veterans/veteran spouses to pick up this book! It will help you make sure that you are maximizing your military benefits.
