They keep your hands from roasting while putting down some beads. Your gloves will last longer. I wish they lasted longer and didnt burn through as fast as they do though. I would still recommend them if you like to rest your hands close to the material to rifle the gun steady as you weave your way through a plate. It beats not having 1 at all where it makes your gloves hot and leaves blisters on your hands while running hot on a plate/pipe. If you're burning your hands when you weld i would get these. Or adjust your technique. But if you have problems holding still while floating over a plate or pipe then these will work and they are definitely cheaper to replace than gloves and more comfortable to weld with than having your hands burned through your gloves.

I am not a professional welder by trade, just weld around my homestead and was sick of going threw gloves! I hold my mig welder gun pretty close to what I'm welding and am always burning the hell out of the fingers and back off my left glove. Tried sewing a piece of leather to the back of my glove, but that didn't last🙄.... found this...... now why didn't I think of this. Hopefully the straps last... time will tell but the cost to replace this compare to a good set of gloves, I'll take it.

Haven't gotten a chance to use this yet, but the physical quality & the forethought put into the design are very evident. They put two 1/2" ridges on the inside that sit against the back of your hand to keep most of the pad from contacting your hand. Less surface area touching your hand = less heat transfer into your hand...clever design feature there.The strap that goes around the palm has a small section of elastic in the middle of the hand to give a better fit, while the placement protects the elastic from stray spatter. Clever designing again. Well played BSX, well played!It did get to me one day late, not sure who's fault that was. It got to my local post office on the correct day, just a little bit to late - arrived there while my mailman was just getting onto my block. Ended up getting delivered on the next day.

These photos were take after making nine welds. It does a great job in shielding from heat! First and foremost that was the reason I made the purchase. Durability- I’m not sure how long these will hold up. Gave three stars only because it is fraying so quickly. I would give it ten stars for its function to shield from heat.

Mig welding eat this up. Did not last 10 days. I’ve used much better in the past. This one was not worth the money at all. Not a very marketable item for fair consumer sales.

I've been new to SMAW and these have been helping me deal with the intense heat of the craft.They do burn through pretty quickly though. I guess that's not really a surprise when welding at those temperatures but if I do have to replace them that often, it'd be nice to see the cost come down.Other than that, it's a real saver for the back of your hands!

I purchased this pad in hopes of increasing the functional longevity of my welding gloves. I always wear an arc welding glove on my left hand when welding (arc or mig) but have found that, under certain conditions, that the heat/spatter is enough to force me to quit welding and cool my hand off. This pad has eliminated that need...absolutely. Because of it's bulk (thickness) it does take a moment to get used to as it is not quite as flexible as the glove alone. Once it has been worn for an hour or two there will be no recognition of an awkwardness because of it at all.If I were forced to find fault with this product it might be that it does seem a bit rough around the edges...perhaps not quite as neatly finished as it might be. Having said that, it is a welding backpad and as such will take tremendous abuse it's entire functional life: finish then is not very important.At $9.96 I think it is a remarkable buy and will enthusiastically recommend it to all the welders I know.

Ordered them for a friend since he is a welder. They fried on him after the first hour. Didn't even last a full day. These are not genuine brand, and are a safety hazard.
