Design for Social Innovation: Case Studies from Around the World

Design for social innovation as a field of practice is at a unique moment of maturation
I tremendously enjoyed this book and the framing it offers on this important and timely topic of design for social innovationIt provides a snapshot of this moment in the evolution of design for social innovationThe 45 case studies in the book - from six continents - range from game-based menstrual hygiene education in Kenya, financial literacy for Ecuadorian micro entrepreneurs, cultivating a discussion on the future of health in Denmark through to understanding the needs and context of entrepreneurial paddy farmers in MyanmarThese cases and the documented roundtables demonstrate how designers shape new products, services, and systems while transforming organizations and supporting individual growthThis is a fantastic read. The Kindle format is however not always great and the layout messed up from time to time. The flower diagrams representing the case study data do not translate well in this format either. That is too bad as the book is not cheap.
