This is a great value, but if you want a classic soft yellow glow, you'll need either incandescent bulbs or perhaps something more expensive/ Edison style. These produce a surgical florescent beam, devoid of softness, warmth, and glow.

These bulbs are not intended for use around a mirror or anywhere that you need a lot of light. They are PERFECT for night lights that make a little more light to negotiate your way through the dark. Our house has many rooms that have no windows, so even in daytime I (81 years old with difficulty seeing at night) put them anyplace that might have less light than a regular bulb. At one watt each, they make a great pathway if you put one in the lamps you seldom use... and they use virtually no electricity. Calculate it if you like... in my rural location, my electricity costs about 12 cents per kilowatt hour, so that's 12 cents for 1000 hours of light. We have a lot of lamps in our old house that seldom get turned on, so most of those now have these little bulbs that are turned on 24 hours a day... great in a hallway, or a cluttered child's room, even outside if you have power available. Don't make the mistake that these are cosmetic lights, they are about two or three times as bright as the old fashioned night lights and use about 25% as much electricity. I love them. They use the same socket size as a regular light bulb, so they fit almost anywhere you might think of putting them... even over the toilet.

These little light bulbs are great as a night light. They use very little wattage, 1 watt, and just enough light. I actually used them also in my dining light fixture because my fixture needed 6 bulbs and I wanted low light without putting in a dimmer switch. They work great.
