Great retrieving tool!!!!
I used this attached to a 307 foot long piece of 3/4" black poly pipe to retrieve a sensor and 200 feet of wire from the bottom of 305 foot deep well! Super pleased when a plan comes together!!!

Worked well for retrieving a cutter tip
I had a cutter tip come off about 35 feet down the sewer line. I was selling the house, and needed to get the cutter out so it didn't clog the lines. When I got the Retrieving Tool, opened up the end of the coil, and put this on the end of a long, coiled-spring sewer "snake" and pushed it and an inspection camera down the hole. I couldn't get the cutter into the coils, so I had to get the end of the coil into a 5/16" hole... fun to do, and nearly impossible, but after a heartfelt prayer I hooked it within 5 minutes and got it out. I had an unusual occurrence where I was snaking out my waste pipe due to a clog and during that my snake cable snapped leaving about 12 feet of it in the waste drain. I thought I would need to call a plumber which would have defeated the purpose of trying to save money by trying to fix the problem myself. After researching on google to find out if anyone else had a similar problem, I ran across a post of using a tool like this one to snag tools that disconnected during snaking in a waste pipe. I thought that maybe I could snag the broken snake with this tool and decided to give it a try. Well, first I replace the snake cable on my machine with a new one, (it's a 5/16 diameter) and I sent the tool down the pipe to see if it would snag it. No go. I pulled the tool out, and I took a pair of channel locks and a pair of pliers and bent the coil on the end of it out a bit so that it was sticking out straight. It did take some doing since these coils are pretty strong and don't like to bend. I then sent it back down the waste pipe (4 inch diameter) and it seemed like I caught it. I had a hard time pulling it up at first but sure enough I dragged that broken snake up and out of the drain. What a relief seeing that sucker come out of the hole. I did have to modify this thing a little bit... but it did do the trick for what I needed it for and saved me a lot of money.
