When I originally ordered these socks, they were the best socks I've owned to date and were great for wearing with mid-calf boots. That's the only reason this review is receiving 3 stars. However, it seems like in the 2 years since I originally owned that bunch, they have since been replaced with an inferior product. The originals were black and grey, were a stretch fit, a smooth calf, and had a tight weave that was very durable and lasted me several years of wear. They fit my US size 9 1/2 (European/Asian size 44) feet well and were very soft, comfortable, and warm. After about 2 years of daily use and a lot of walking around urban and mountainous settings, they did develop holes in the toes and heels, as can be expected of any sock.The new version is all black, is a much looser fit, looser and more delicate weave, and somehow reaches less far up my leg than the smaller original version. It also has a completely different calf weave pattern that has much more pronounced ridges which I'm not a fan of. I've owned socks with weaves and fits like this before; I have almost no confidence that the new version will last even a year before they start developing holes. This is not even to mention that I ordered these in December (and there was expected holiday delays) but didn't receive them until the end of February, after I had to remind the seller that I ordered them.The new ones happen to just barely fit me and I am in need of socks so I'll be keeping them, but I'm definitely NOT buying another pair after this. The quality product I expected is dead and I can no longer recommend them.
