We've had the blanket for about a week now. Despite what some experienced, ours had no specific smell to it. It was late in the evening, so we put it directly on our bed without washing first. Not our norm, but we were tired. The blanket had a noticeable stiffness to it, but we hoped that would lessen when we washed it. I also thought it was a little too warm for me even though its thin. The next day, I washed and dried it per instructions on the label. When I took it out of the dryer, it was for sure softer but I still would not say it was soft. When I put it on the bed - huh? Wow, it shrank quite a bit. At first I thought I had it on sideways or something, but then quickly realized that it was just much smaller than it was last night before washing. I bought a king for a queen bed, but mostly because we are larger sized people and wanted the blanket to still hang over the sides a bit when we were under it. Even with a king blanket, once it shrank as much as it did it no longer has that much of a hang over. I did see many people comment about how much it shrinks, but I thought getting a king for a queen mattress would be fine for us. In reality, its borderline too small for us now. Otherwise, its nice and looks good on the bed.

I really had doubts that this rather thin woven blanket would be adequate or even survive the wash cycle. It looked, from some of the photos that have lights behind it, as if it is nearly see-through. It is none of that. I ordered the sky blue, upon receipt put it in front of bright lights and couldn't see through it's weave. It is thin, but only as it's supposed to be in manufacturing and has been made very well. The weave is taut, it arrived in perfect shape, washed and dried excellently and the dye lot and selvedge edges are also quality. The two edges that are sewn are excellent and deeply hemmed with secure stitching. It has a nice weight to it and is comfortable without flimsy softness that wouldn't be expected in a quality cotton woven blanket of this weight. I am very pleased and will buy more of this item and brand. I use it under my new comforter, and have it placed on top of a microfiber topsheet which is layered over a percale cotton sheet topsheet over the matching percale fitted bottom sheet, also from a seller on Amazon. This allows preservation of the comforter, and enough warmth to be three-season in the North. The weight of this blanket is beneficial to falling and staying asleep, in my experience. I chose this blanket over several others because of the Dobby design in the weave, which I decided was going to help the blanket last even if washed frequently. I have also noticed, which I didn't expect, that by using this blanket directly in my stack under the microfiber comforter, that the comforter and sheets no longer end up markedly askew the next morning and making the bed is really only straightening the coverings, now. I am super pleased with this "Yankee-layering" blanket and recommend it! Go get one, this is useful and great quality!

This blanket is an excellent product. I like the fact that it is a little larger than standard twin sizes. This way, my feet get covered all the time, too.A problem with other blankets is that they are good for deep winter months, but don't regulate heat well during summer/warm months, and when you start over-heating, it wakes you up out of a sound sleep. To the contrary, this blanket, being 100% cotton, regulates changing body temperatures very well so you can get your best night's rest.Another thing I like about this product is the tight weave of the fabric. Some cotton blankets have such an open weave, you can put your fingers through it. This lovely blanket is nothing like that. It has a nice tight, flat, patterned weave that is nice to the touch and is a comfort against the skin.I also like the color. A lot of blankets come in unpleasant colors. The blankets in this line have some very nice colors like my lavender one.100% cotton blankets wash up well and store easily. They don't pill (like fleece blankets) and keep their youthful appearance for years to come.I can highly recommend these beautiful blankets for any one and for any season.

The Tight Weave Cotton...

The media could not be loaded.  I thought this blanket was going to be too good to be true!! But for once, I was amazed. It is brilliant quality. Exactly how I want a cotton blanket to be. It’s better quality than any cotton blanket I’ve bought in Myer for double and triple the price.No it’s no plush. It’s not supposed to be. But it’s soft and great quality and not paper thin. Best purchase. Will be buying more.

make sure to wash it before use, has a really strong smell and the material feels different before wash also.

I ordered the king size in teal. The blanket is exactly as described and fits the bed with adequate overhang on each side. I love the texture and pattern (better than a waffle weave as it's softer and lighter). The colour is spectacularly vibrant, which is exactly as I'd hoped when purchased. Would definitely recommend to anyone wanting 100% cotton blanket.

I have trusted utopia bedding before with no issues but this was slightly two tones when I took it out of the package. Not that it affects quality or is much noticed as we cover it but after a few washes, it's even more brown than grey as it was supposed to be.
