So I got this for my birthday as I love hedgehogs but I don't like how small these are and you don't really know what kind of crystals these are but out of the 4 hedgehogs I got 3 really good ones as shown in the photos but the green one came out terrible and mostly bald other than the big crystals on top but these are fragile crystals that lighten up after drying out. Don't think I'll buy this again but it was fun to try

Beautiful Crystals!
This was such a fun project! The crystals started to grow very fast! We left the hedgehogs in the solution for 7 days. One of the plastic containers cracked after we put the warm solution in it so we used a glass for that hedgehog. Also, be aware that the directions are using Celsius and not Fahrenheit for the water temperature. Over all we absolutely loved making these crystal hedgehogs!!

Grandson enjoyed watching his hedgehog grow!
Christmas gift for my 7-year-old grandson. Directions were easy to follow.

Daughter loved them
I think as long as you follow the directions they should work just fine. I read the reviews and the ones where they didn't work I feel the directions weren't followed. The only thing is the active participation of the child on stirring the solution because of the high temperature of the water. As long as you know if your child can follow direction and you can have the jar in a pot in case of a spill it doesn't got on them to burn them I think it's a really cool gift. It's really about knowing what directions for child can follow.

Anticlimactic
My 4.5 y/o is into STEM projects so we gave him a bunch of "rainy" day activities for Christmas that we could pull out of the closet and do when we had time or needed an activity. This was kind of anticlimactic for him as you boil water, pour and stir, then WAIT, DON'T TOUCH...all of which have to be done with extreme supervision with a 4 year old. (Which is partly my fault, I'm sure the age on the box is not 4). But after you do the boil, pour, stir nothing really happens for days which was kind of disappointing for him. Now when we pulled the hedgehog out of the water he was extremely surprised. We watched and checked the growth daily but we planned to do one color at a time and he chose blue, which like other reviewers have said, makes it hard to visualize what is happening and the blue STAINS awful. I think I will choose the next color for us and it will be yellow so maybe we can observe progress a bit better.

Seems fun and affordable.
Can’t wait to try it out ; will update my review once I try it.

This requires patience!
If you have a child wanting instant gratification this is not the toy for them. It requires 3-7 days for the crystals to appear and during that time the container must be completely undisturbed.

Fun activity kit for kids
Decent little activity that was fun for our 3 & 5 year old boys. Blue is dark so it’s harder to watch it grow in the 24 hours, but we used a flashlight to see it better. Fairly simple, cute little hedgehogs. Would recommend for younger kids because it only took a day to grow (and within a couple hours you could see crystal forming) so not a long time to wait on results. The blue hedgehog back piece stuck on better than the rest, but a little gorilla glue secured the rest so my kids could move them around & gently play with them. (after they had dried).

Fun activity for kids.
I bought this set for my friends two little girls for Christmas. They were very excited to grow their crystal hedge hogs, and the end result didn't disappoint. I didn't take part in the crystal growing, but their Mom said it was relatively easy. Just take care when you remove the little guys from their containers, and leave them for the full recommended time for bigger crystal growth.

Containers crack with boiling water
Great in theory, but the plastic containers are not strong enough to withstand the boiling water you're instructed to pour into them. Once we added boiling water and started stirring, 3 out of 4 containers cracked and started leaking. I was able to transfer the solution to some glass jars but was very disappointed in the quality of the containers that came with this kit. Hopefully our crystals will still grow, but we lost a lot of the solution and the hedgehogs are not well covered now.

Two of the packages were rock hard and unusable!!
Of the 4 hedgehogs, which are made by stirring boiling water into a powder for 5 minutes. Difficult for a 3 year old, but by 5, stirring for that long no problem. Unfortunately, in two of the packages the powder was so hard, even the one I could break up a bit, that they totally didn’t dissolve and my granddaughters were disappointed as their favourite colours were the ones of course that went in the garbage..NOT WORTH IT.

Worked but didn't work
This was a fun project to do with my children. They looked really good in the water, some even poking out of the water! We were disappointed when we took them out that they flatten for some reason. And look like they melted.I would probably buy this product again, Yes.
