Another gorgeous example of the Dillon's illustrations
I bought this children's book not because I have children, but because of the exquisite art work illustrations by Diane and Leo Dillon. The book follows the Bible Psalm of " To everything there is a season " with the most gorgeous illustrations imaginable. You don't need to have kids to become a huge fan of the children's books this amazing artistic couple illustrates. Looking at their work in these charming books is just a royal treat for the eyes. Their illustrated books join my collection of fine art books to be enjoyed over and over as an ardent admirer of fine art.

A Beautiful Feast
I fell in love with the illustrators while looking through Amazon for books on a particular subject I was researching for a story. Their work was breathtaking. I ended up ordering four of their books. This is the first I'm reviewing. The verses from Ecclesiastes are illustrated in different styles. 'A time to be born and a time to die' has a scene that you might find in an Egyptian tomb with mourners and the deceased. Others look like vignettes from an illuminated manuscript, there are Mayan depictions, all exquisitely done. The depictions highlight the text. This is a lovely, lovely book.

perfect
This is one of the most perfect and beautiful children's books I've ever seen. The words from Ecclesiastes reflect truths about the variations in life that I've found young children understand. The illustrations, each representing a different artistic style, from a variety of time periods and cultures, is exactly what I'm always looking for in children's books -- a truly multicultural encounter.

the illustrations of the dillons are brilliant
beautiful, beautiful, and beautiful! If you don't know the work of the dillons, this is a great intro to their versatility. there is also a lovely illustration towards the end of the book that reveals the couple as artists with their son... see if you can find it! If I could buy this book for every one of my friends, I would.

To Every Thing There Is A Season
As an art teacher this is one of my favorite children's books. Using the famous verses from Ecclesiastes the book comes alive with beautifully rendered pages of civilizations often using art historical themes. It is a beautiful and simple presentation with profound meaning. I highly recommend this book for anyone who teaches elementary school children. I read it to my seventh grade class as an introduction tho my course on the Great Religions of the World. Whenever anyone I know has a baby this is my baby gift to them. I have nothing but enthusiasm for the illustrations in this book and the message it imparts. I am so glad it is still in print!
