Solid product
I love this hiking shoe. I have put in 17 miles since purchase, this shoe needs no time to break-in. They are trail ready straight out of the box. It has solid support, traction, and comfort to keep hiking safe and make it enjoyable. I also used these in slushing/snow/wet/muddy conditions and my feet stayed dry. Would highly recommend.

Perfect for a tough hike
I just came back from my recent Iceland trip, and I bought this hiking shoe a few days before my trip. At first, I wondered if I needed to brake this in. To my surprise, I am very happy with this shoe. I used it to hike up in some of the rocky and tough hikes in Iceland and my feet never felt sore or tired. It was very comfortable, perfect for my feet. There was a time that it was raining in Iceland and sometimes I have to step into paddles but this shoe kept me dry. I am very satisfied with it and I highly recommended it.

Everything I was looking for in a hiking shoe
I am in LOVE with these Moab 2 hiking shoes by Merrell. I went to Columbia recently and almost bought some hiking shoes but decided I wanted to do some more research. I talked to a guy working in a different shoe store that sold many brands and he suggested I look at Merrells. I’d never even heard of them before, so I did some research and I found these Moab 2 hiking shoes and read a LOT of the reviews. Because if I’m going to drop a chunk of change on hiking shoes, they better be worth it. Previous reviews state that these shoes don’t need a “break in” period, and that’s absolutely true. These were super comfortable from first wear. I have pretty big feet for a lady- I wear a size 9-10. My feet are also wide and flat. I didn’t buy these in wide, I bought the regular ones and they’re still perfect. And the arch support is amazing! There’s plenty of room in the toe box, but not so much that my feet slide around like other hiking shoes. The grip on the bottom is really sturdy and feels like actual rubber, not the plastic feel like others have switched to recently. I would highly recommend these to people who love hiking and are in need of a sturdy hiking shoe. They’re also super light! I don’t feel like these weigh my feet down at all!

Great work shoe for people on their feet all day!
This is a great work shoe for people on their feet all day! I walk about 25,000- 35,000 steps in a single shift in the trades field. These shoes have been a life and body saver! They do take some time to break in. I usually wear them around the house for a few hours a day for around 2-3 weeks. That being said, once they are broken in they are an amazing work shoe! The Vibram soles are great on my feet and help absorb all of the walking on my knees. I purchased the color Sedona Sage as I was looking for a more professional color with a touch of feminine in the mint color. The only thing that I would change is if they could add a slip resistant/ oil resistant bottom. But these are originally meant for hiking. My last pair lasted me an entire work year with lots of wear and tear. I still use them as an old pair, kept in my locker, for the really dirty jobs at work. I highly recommend these for anyone who walks a lot at work! And this brand will continue to be my go to work shoe/boot.

Comfortable Hiking Shoes
I love Merrell shoes, and their women’s Moab 2 GTX hiking shoes were perfect right out of the box, having quality in all these: comfort, fit, style, and hiking itself! When hiking, I stepped in a huge puddle almost submerging my entire foot, not quite all the way though. My husband alerted me because I had felt nothing. Stepping out of the puddle, my foot remained dry with the benefit of Gortex, the GTX in the shoes. More expensive, perhaps, but these were perfect for me—I tried many hiking shoes before finding these, and they are so worth it.

Not waterproof
I was replacing an older pair of Merrell hikers that were no longer waterproof (not sure if they ever were). I spent the extra few bucks to get the Gore-Tex hoping it would be better but with the first wear my socks on one side were wet. I was hoping water had seeped in from my pants or something but tried again today and sure enough same side with wet socks. I live in a rainy area and really need waterproof! Is there such a thing? Seems to be a mystery. Other than that great shoes and good hikers but not what I actually need and a waste of money, I can just wear my older leaky shoes.

Definitely the mother of all boots!
I’ve always been suspicious of hiking boots having owned a Salomon pair which were unbelievably painful due to the high arches in my foot. So until now I’ve used my converse for walking - with the inevitable plateau on distance because they are not designed for it and cause foot and ankle pain on long distances. Since purchasing these boots I feel my inner hiker has been freed - I have never felt such comfort and it’s as if the boots themselves adapt to rugged terrain rather than my body having to. Such a great purchase and they really are the mother of all boots!

Amazing, they really are waterproof
Ok been wearing for a while now. I am so surprised. They are actually waterproof! I've been out in rain and walked through dewy and very wet grass. My feet have stayed dry. I'm amazed. They are also comfy, grippy and light. As it's goretex your feet don't get sticky with sweat either. I would definitely recommend

Good first impressions but are they really worth the money?
Being a keen walker I wanted a pair of comfortable walking shoes primarily for doing evening walks around our village on pavements and through fields, rather than wearing my hiking boots. So I bought my MOAB GTX 2 shoes back in January 2020.Initial impressions with the shoes were fantastic. They fitted really well, (I have fairly wide feet) and were very comfortable. They seemed to be everything that Merrell promised, comfortable, waterproof and keeping my feet at a comfortable temperature. One happy lady. Nice to be able to find a manufacturer who lived up to their promises...so I thought.A couple of months later they stopped being waterproof, despite several attempts at reproofing them, nothing worked. So I have now had to be wary of where and when I wear them, as they let the water in really badly.Appreciate that this review is now almost 36 months after buying them, but for the money, I would have expected better quality. The metal bar in the sole of one of the shoes is now beginning to press into the insole and puts pressure on the bottom of my foot, near the ball of my foot so I think it's time to let these go.Mileage? I'd estimate I've only walked 300 miles tops. Managed a 23 mile walk in them back in May this year and ended up with a badly bruised foot on the top of my foot. But they were comfy to walk in most of the time.I wouldn't buy them again, they are a lot of money for what they are (I bought mine from Amazon in a sale) and am now looking for another pair of lightweight walking shoes to replace them with.

Feet are still dry
Update Apr 2023 - bought July 2021, shoes are now starting to let water inI'm writing this after wearing everyday for a year and they are still waterproof, no cracks appeared in soles or at the joins as usually happens with walking shoes. The fit was comfortable straight away, no wearing in was neededMy last pair were Solomons and the fit on those changed so these have been a god send and I'll stick with this brand once these eventually wear through. For context, I walk the dog on all kinds of terrain, hardcore, grass, up hills, beaches etcOne downside is that they can be slippy on wet leaves but they get you up a rocky incline just fine which I find strange.

A quality shoe
Fantastic quality, it has a slightly wide toe box, which I also liked. I had to return because the arch inside was quite high and seemed to dig into my foot, that may be because I have flat arches though. I think if you have high arches the shoe would be perfect! I’m still giving five stars as the quality of the shoe is brill.
