Pfaltzgraff Decker Square 16 Piece Dinnerware Set, Service for 4, White Speckled

I got a set of Pfaltzgraff for a gift in my 20's; now in my 50's I've decided to get a new set and decided on Pfaltzgraff. Love these and hopefully they last again .

I used to have some of the original stoneware dinnerware years ago. However, the mottled brown and tan design was so outdated I gave them away some time ago. Then I saw this set on Amazon. I liked the black with gold trim and the more modern shape, so I ordered the set.The matte black really helps highlight the gold trim which provides an elegant look. I’m not fond of the speckles but they’re okay. I really like the shape and overall look over the traditional round dinnerware I normally use.These are quite heavy, which is to be expected from stoneware. I love the oversize mugs. Too often these are much smaller. My only concern it that the matte finish may show scratches a lot easier, something my previous set never did because they had a gloss finish which helps hide scratches. Only time will tell how well the finish holds up.Luckily these are dishwasher and microwavable safe, because we use both on almost all dinner and cookware.If these hold up I would anticipate ordering another set, because 8 pieces is normally what we need for family events, and these are cool enough for everyone to see and use.

The name Pfaltzgraff still holds up! My mother had Pfaltzgraff dishes when I was a kid, and honestly, I think she still has them. I was looking for a table setting that will match my new dark academia styled kitchen (that’s what my girlfriend calls it) and these really fit the bill. All of the pieces microwave and wash up nicely. The little gold on the edges are probably my favorite part, and I was a little bit afraid of it coming off in the dishwasher, but so far so good. The mugs are and especially please size and shape, and I think will quickly become favorites. These came packaged really well, and individually divided, so there were no chips, or cracks upon delivery. Easy to unwrap and stick in the dishwasher to start using ASAP. Couldn’t be more pleased! Pfaltzgraff forever!

Edit-- We had people over the other night and used this dinnerware set. The speckles put them off. They asked if something was wrong with my dishwasher and why these came out speckled. They tried to get the speckles off the plate by scratching at it. I had to explain that the speckles were part of the design of the plate. Even though these are extremely well made and I personally love them, I won't use them for anyone outside the family because of the speckles. I deducted a star because of this experience.These are extremely nice dishes. I knew they would be quality as Pflazgraff is a great name brand. These are squarish dishes. You get 4 dinner plates, 4 bowls, 4 mugs and 4 small plates. They are heavy and well made. The edges of the dishes have an almost gold tint. The speckles are on the front and back and look white. I would say that the speckles were initially a little off putting but has grown on me. These are very rich looking, microwave safe and dishwasher safe. My husband likes the mugs as they are large enough for oatmeal and heat up great in the microwave. The dishes that these will replace are also Pfaltzgraff and over 20 years old. I fully expect these will last just as long as my old ones.

I have been using the Pfaltzgraff Decker Square 16 piece dinnerware set for several weeks. They are medium-weight plates and have a sturdy hand feel. The rims have a metallic gold tone and it is complementary to the set. I love the elegance of this set. The mood changes in different lighting creating a unique ambiance depending on the time of day or light choice. The squared edges and metallic rims give this set a modernized appeal. What I like most about this dinnerware set is that it is simple, minimalistic, yet intriguing. I am not yet sure about the overall longevity but so far I have not had issues. I will update as needed with further time and use as needed.

I have never had a stoneware dish set before and this one is just beautiful. I like the modern design of square plates and bowls. The dark color is very elegant. The black is a flat mat finish. The splatter of white dots are unique to each piece, each one displays differently. The pieces are heavy and solid, definitely not light weight and I like that about this set. The set comes with cups which I could have done without, but I'll find a use for them...maybe a good toothbrush holder for in the bathroom. They stack nicely in the cabinet too. I would never have considered a set like this when my kiddos were little but with them grown I can now appreciate a fancier dish set. These dishes can be used as an everyday set or could work perfectly for a fancy dinner party. Very impressive set and I would recommend.

I have always liked the quality of Pfaltzgraff stoneware, and this set is no exception. The heft of the plates, the sturdiness of the dish ware, the ability to microwave (no metal in the edging) makes this set not only functional, but great for every day or for special occasions.I love the black and the subtle speckled design. It’s very elegant, but also something I would not be afraid to use every day. The plates are great sizes but also fit in my narrow cabinets. The only thing I would have wanted was deeper soup/cereal bowls, but they’re functional as is.Overall, it’s a great set. It’s not inexpensive, but you get what you pay for…and these are worth the money. FYI, the bases are plain stoneware so they won’t chip/slide.

What I like about these dishes are there square, black and where it's at. There are little speckles on the dishes, so that might take away from some of your wishes. There are a little on the heavy side but that's alright. I give these A5 and that's no jive, service for four, can also serve a family of five, especially when I is a little baby.
