Excellent filter, convenient
I got this filter when I read some articles about lead in our local water and realized that the pitcher filter I had been buying didn't remove lead. I did some reading and comparing, and decided that this under sink filter that comes through the cold water faucet was the way to go. Installation was pretty simple. My husband handled that and it didn't take a lot of time. The directions were pretty clear, and he didn't seem to mind doing it, and he HATES plumbing. The water: I found this does a very good job filtering our water. It is clear and tastes good. And when you leave water sitting around for hours in a glass it still tastes good when it is warm. It had no metallic flavor or chlorine smell or taste. The cold water faucet: This is much more convenient than the pitcher we used for years. I used to fill and wait for water. Now I don't have to wait. I can fill a pot for pasta, the coffee maker for coffee, fill the dog's water bowl, and all kinds of things one after the other without waiting for a pitcher to filter the water. It has saved me a lot of time in the kitchen, and I feel better than all my food only comes in contact with the lead-free water. I do find that the cold water stream in my kitchen has slowed down a bit. It is noticeable, but not so much that I would give up on all the benefits of this filter. If it get substantially slower near the end of the filter life, I will update this review. I like the filter, the convenience, the taste, and feeling like we are doing something positive for our health. I definitely intend to continue filtering my water.

Water tastes better than bottled + more convenient
Our city tap water was unbearable to drink which forced us for years to buy bottled water from Walmart or other vendors. Living in an upstairs apartment made the trek with a 40-pack of water bottles a hassle beyond belief, this product is a game changer. Installation is simple, and you can even find step by step videos online to show you how to install it. The only issue I had is the cold water pressure on my faucet is noticeably slower even though it said it shouldn't affect it at all. If it wasn't for that, I give it 5 stars without hesitation. Water is very tasty, combine it with a quality aluminum water bottle like Hydro Flask and you have a winning combination. Honestly wish I would've made this discovery years ago, it would've saved so much hassle and been better for the environment.

Easy to install; works great
Purchased this to replace another brand filter for which replacement cartridges have become hard to find and prohibitively expensive. The filter came in original packing which, nor surprisingly, was damaged during shipment. It really should have been shipped in a heavier cardboard box. Fortunately, none of the pieces fell out, but that was pure luck cause the hole in the carton was quite big. Since I was replacing a filter that used 1/4" OD tubing, had to make a trip to the Big Box to get adapters. However, once I had the necessary parts, the installation took about 10 minutes. I really like the "push connect" fittings. Working around the garbage disposal was a bit challenging, though. I like the fact that cartridge replacement will be a lot easier than the previous model I had. That one required you to turn off the water, disassemble to filter housing, replace the filter, and put it all back together again hoping it didn't leak. The Filtrete claims that you can replace the cartridge without turning off the water--won't know for sure until the filter needs replacement in six months, but it looks like it will work as advertised. I installed an inline cutoff valve just to be sure, however. Several complaints about reduced water pressure for those who chose to install the filter inline with the main cold water faucet. My installation has a separate faucet just for filtered water, so I can't say whether or not that is the case. Pressure does seem better than the one I replaced. As for how well it works, our tap water is virtually tasteless so I really can't tell. The specs are quite impressive, however. The "timer" to alert you that it's time to replace the filter is a nice touch.

Straight forward installation, fast flow!
Just installed this and so far so good. I haven't tested the water for lead/pesticide levels after installation yet, but I did beforehand for reference. I will update when I do. No where on the description or the manual does it mention why there is a short piece of white tubing attached to the top of the housing. The filter can be unscrewed without shutting off the water due to a nifty valve in the housing. What they don't tell you is that water from the valve shoots out of the white house when you remove the filter. So when removing the filter, hold the end of the white tube in a cup so that you don't ruin your cabinets with all the water that shoots out. All the hardware included will be sufficient for an under sink install, but I needed 50 bucks worth of fittings and tube to install this a floor below in the basement which pipes up to the kitchen above. The reason I did this is some of the reviews mentioned cracks and leaks that occurred which caused flooding. My filter is installed over a basement sink and floor drain for this reason. I recommend this if it's possible for you. Lastly, I realize that a lot of people who report cracked filters might have pretty turbid water or use the filter longer than recommended. It seems strange that the filter would crack due to pressure from the water when it is always under the same pressure, but as the filter becomes clogged, pressure builds in one part of the filter and isn't distributed through the whole filter as when it's not clogged. It seems that the (poor) design of the filter is such that it can't handle this unbalanced pressure and can crack. Water damage can be tremendously costly to repair so I think 3m should improve this issue. The filter should still be able to withstand normal water pressure even if fully obstructed in my opinion. Of course we should be changing filters at the recommended intervals to maintain clean water, but a failure to do this shouldn't compromise water tightness.

Great tasting filtered water from an easy to install system
Installed this about a month ago in our new home and so far, we absolutely love it. Our new home has built-in side-by-side refrigerator/freezer so we don't have "easily" accessible filtered water. Luckily there was a vegetable sink in our kitchen that was easily accessible and would be a great place to fill up our water glasses. Installation took me about 20 minutes, but only because I was triple checking every single connection. What with being a brand new house, the last thing I wanted to do was flood the place the day we moved in! It couldn't have been simpler to install. Water flow is somewhat restricted from what it was, but it's honestly barely noticeable. I know it because I know the filter is on the faucet. But visitors would be completely oblivious (pretty sure the wife and kids are too). It more than makes up for any water flow deficiencies in the quality of filtered water it puts out. Our once nasty tasting city water now tastes as good as the finest bottled you can buy in the store. A month in and I have absolutely zero complaints. No leaks, good water flow... and outstanding tasting water. I plan on adding more of these to my house in the not-so-distant future.

Filters BEST
This filter filters everything and makes your tap water drinkable. I tried another under the sink product when we changed out our sink and hated it so much I searched for this system again. The only draw back is it can reduce your cold water pressure. Small sacrifice for quality of water.

Good replacement for our old Dupont 200g faucet attachment
After several months of using this filter I am satisified. I like how this unit stays under the sink, out of view. The water tastes great and from what I'm seeing the replacement cartridges are much more reasonably priced compared to the Dupont cartridges. UPDATE: This lasted me about 1.5 years before the water started tasting like municipal water again. Strangely, the flow never reduced, so I had to rely on the taste to detect the need for a replacement. Replacing it is simple and if you can quickly twist the old cartridge off you will only need a paper towel to clean up some drips.

The Real Deal
Our city recently sent letters to home owners about potential lead in the water and offered testing. I own a rental house and it tested at 15.3 ug/L when the allowable limit in our Canadian geography (Sask) is less than 10. I searched online and found this filter. Lasts 6-8 months, claims to not reduce pressure, and remove 99.8% of lead. Bingo. Installed in 1 hour, water pressure only very slightly different, it lasts, and the re-test of the water shows lead now at 1.3 so it did in fact remove 99% of the lead. Very happy

3rd order. Well............
This is technically my 3rd order 1st order is 5 years ago and really like the product. 2nd order and 3rd is is just recently. 2nd order came in a plastic bag like envelope. Crushed and with the very important accessories missing. I have no choice but to return it. Unlike in USA, where they have home depot and other similars. Over here, Those acceesories that come with it is not easily available locally. Thus the 2nd order is literally not usable. I have no choice but to return it. 3rd order came in perfect in a cardboard box. everything is intact. Product itself. Using it for 5 years previously. Zero complains. It filter away chlorine taste (My primary intentions) and other weird ordor from the water. It last about 6 months. Value for money. It's a product worth getting for the price. However, Amazon should pay attention more on the shipping package. Items that does not have a thick cardboard box. I don't think it is a good idea to ship them in plastic envelopes. Other from the rude shock on the second order of this product. All my orders from amazon is up to my expectations.

Want better drinking water? 3M Filtrete is the excellent inexpensive option.
Very easy to install. It cost about $70 to purchase. It replaced an existing reverse osmosis system in our kitchen. Why replace? The old system needed 3 filters replaced. Local company who are the local manufacturer's representatives quoted $500 for the set of 3 filters. I said "You must be kidding". They were insulted and said "no we have the best home water filtration system in the business". Their opinion only. $500 for 3 filters. Installation extra? So I started looking on Amazon's website looking for a replacement system and found 3M's Filtrete system. Great. Already use 3M Filtrete air filters in my furnace. I am already a 3M fan as in a previous career I was a senior assembly plant buyer for Ford Motor Company and 3M was, probably still is a major supplier of many products to all auto manufacturers. I was at Ford for 10 years and I can't ever recall any 3M shipments ever being rejected for quality issues and 3M always delivered on time. My personal opinion: 3M are among the greatest companies on the planet----not just for the Automotive Industry but for home products as well. I've never ever been disappointed by a 3M product,
