I’ve used bras so wadding for years does what I want it for

I polish the brasses at my church. I used to use liquid brasso but it left white residue in hard to reach bits. the wadding does not have that problem. Whoever donated fancy twiddly candlesticks to my church in the 19th century clearly had an army of servants to do their polishing and never had to clean any brass themselves!

This is for cleaning brass which I havea lot of. Works very well.
