I guess 3/8 ounce when empty, because when filled with water I'm pretty sure it weights much more than that.

Q: How in the world do you secure the bobber on the line without it sliding up and down?

Thread your line through the center shaft of the Ajustabubble. It is a slip bobber, but by holding the ends of the center shaft, and turning them, you tighten it on your line. It is not made to insert on your line after your swivel and hook are tied on. The AjustaBubble goes on first.
