love it for my toddler, who loves to dance and play music
given its price, its a neat toy for toddler and young children who enjoy sounds, music and buttons that do stuff. It does actually allow you to add layered sound tracks, which are predetermined for each internal track, i believe their are 6 music tracks each having an additional 6 layers to be added or removed individually. I'd complain that the scratch pads do not actually increment or decrement the music sound track, they just add a scratch sound to the track playing, this is why its a child's toy, and not an actual mixing instrument. Which I think should be made more clear in the description. Awesome toy for kids, my son is 2 at the writing of this review, but I could easily see it being entertaining even somewhat educational to kids as old as 9 guessing I only have the 2 yr old so take this with a grain of salt. A use (child) would need to have a good sense of hearing and comprehension to discern the actual layers being added (other instruments of sound effect) that change the music track playing. I am grateful a company has produced this toy as its a great value given what it does. build quality isn't great, but I think its on par with mid range children's toys. and given its electronics and number of functioning buttons and features, its an unbelievable value when you can spend the same money on a truck, that rolls......

This is a little kids toy - way overpriced
I purchased one of these for $4 on clearance at Marshals. For $4 it is worth it, but I wouldn't pay a penny more for it. This toy is for little kids and is poor quality. We'll see how long it lasts with my 3 year old and baby, but since the mic uses a mini-plug I'm guessing that will be the first thing to break.Otherwise for a toddler it is great as it has lots of colorful buttons, some you push, some you twist, and it makes some silly sound effects. They will have to sit on the floor to use it as the legs only elevate it about 2 inches.Forget what it says about using a smartphone, you need to connect it to an auxiliary mini-plug port, so you might as well just play music through your phone's speakers. There is no app that works with this toy.
