Q: Will this work for a freight liner tractor and is it always closed?

It closes when it reaches the upper set point (210) and opens when it reaches the lower point (195). I can't say for sure if it will fit that engine, but, it's a very common size for US based engines.

No its 3/8 npt adp is like 5/8 x 3/8
