A Revenge Tale
“A Black father. A white father. Two murdered sons. A quest for vengeance.”That tagline alone sets the tone for this gripping, emotional, and fiercely raw story that S.A. Cosby has masterfully crafted in Razorblade Tears. At the heart of the novel are two broken men—Ike Randolph, a Black man who’s walked the straight and narrow since leaving prison, and Buddy Lee, a white man still nursing regrets and relying on his old criminal connections. Both are fathers, both are flawed, and both are grieving the violent deaths of their sons, Isiah and Derek—married to each other in life, united in death. The irony? Neither father fully accepted their sons’ sexuality while they were alive. This novel was so many things: emotional, tense, dark, and surprisingly funny at times. It’s a brutal meditation on love, loss, regret, and redemption, all wrapped in a high-stakes thriller. There’s truly nothing more powerful than a father’s love, even when it's tangled in pain and prejudice. As Ike and Buddy Lee seek vengeance, they also embark on a deeper, more painful journey—confronting the ways they failed their sons and learning to see each other through new eyes.I absolutely loved this book. It’s hard to put into words how deeply it affected me. The writing is vivid and unflinching, the action unrelenting, but it’s the emotional core that left the deepest mark. The evolving relationship between Ike and Buddy Lee is the highlight of the story—two hopelessly broken men, irrevocably bonded in grief and guilt. Their bond is messy, heartfelt, and unforgettable. The ending left me a little heartbroken, but it felt right. Bittersweet, gritty, and honest. Razorblade Tears is everything a great thriller should be—and so much more. It’s a full-body experience, and I enjoyed every minute of it.A definite five-star read. Chef’s kiss.

Really good.
This one surprised me. I suspected early on that it was not the type of thriller I was expecting. But the characters were really well developed. I felt connected to them throughout the story. Sometimes the jail jargon and biker speak were a little tough to comprehend but otherwise I thought it was well written. I'll be looking for more of this author's work.

A heart wrenching, thrilling, badass tale
WOW. This book brought me to tears. Cosby’s writing is so vivid, so gripping, it puts you right in the middle of the action. It makes you feel as if you are there with these characters. While Ike and Buddy Lee were imperfect, I grew to love them. Their growth was so beautiful and realistic. The ending, though it broke my heart, was perfect. No notes. I know All the Sinners Bleed is going to become a Netflix series (haven’t read yet), but I can see Razorblade Tears as a movie or series as well. Phenomenal read!

WAY better than I thought! My favorite book in a while!
A doctor at my work told me about this book and that it was one of his favorites. I read the summary and wasn't sure i would like it, but took a chance. From the 1st chapter, I was hooked. There are a lot of very grueling things that happen, and they are explained in great detail. I can say, this is the best audio book I have listened to in a very long time. I am glad I took a chance on something which I was doubtful of when first considering it.

way too violent for my taste
The story line held my interest but I have never enjoyed when vigilante justice type violence is celebrated. I read this for bookclub . Honestly considered giving it only two stars because I really did not enjoy it at all, but it is well written and had well developed characters and if you like descriptive violence and you will like it.

My first S A Cosby
Gritty! Thought provoking! Redemptive! S A Cosby knows how to use a metaphor and paint a picture of unlikely friendships and learning about yourself. This won’t be my last read by this great author.

Crazy, timely, message filled ride!
I'm so obsessed with Cosby. His books always have a strong message. I feel like (so far) the 2 main characters are usually unlikely pairs. There is definitely a lot of grief in this story and at first I wasn't sure if this was the right time but it was relatable and.comforting and sad. Discussion or the lgbtqa+ community, on fatherhood, familial relationships, white privalege, (black men) and therapy. Another amazing book with a strong message and full of gnarly details and words.

Great Read
This is the second book from Cosby that I have read this weekend. I really like how he writes and how interesting the stories are. I am a very avid reader and sometimes I get sick of basically reading the same stories that feel like the only thing that changes is the names. This story was unique, suspenseful and gripping. I'm off to look up more books from this author.
