The lazy susan performs best on a flat surface with the pressure coming from the top. Hope that helps and best of luck on your project.

Q: Can this rotate at fast speeds ? Say 540 rpm ?

The question is not whether it can handle high speeds; it is how long it will last running at high speeds. This is an inexpensive bearing, with the races made from soft aluminum and the balls are likely not precision ground to exact size. It works for it's intended purpose (lazy Susan applications and the like), but I would guess if you ran it at much over 50 rpm it would destroy itself rather quickly. A better bearing would be made from hardened and ground steel races with precision ground balls, and you would pay dearly for that.

Q: I'm confused about how to mount my turntable to this ring. Am I supposed to use washers to get clearance to avoid the stationary ring rubbing?

Yes. You will affix the inner ring to the base, then use sufficient washers or spacers when you attach the outer ring to the movable part. I usually cut a 2 layer base, one solid to act as the lowest part of the base to mount the inner ring against, then a piece with the same O.D., and an inner cutout about 1/4" greater than the diameter of the aluminum ring. It needs to be no thicker than the overall height of the ring, or you will need multiple spacers. Be sure to use the same number for each of the 4 mounting holes. Drill a hole in the base that corresponds to the radius of the outer ring, so you can attach the ring to the upper turntable.

Q: Is there enough surface for this to be glued to the piece I want to turn? The piece is plastic so I can’t use screws.
