Hastings 1066: The Fall of Saxon England

Good layout, good approach, slight lack of detail, overall success.
As one of the older Osprey's this happens to be the best Osprey I've ever read, which is saying something, given I've read a fair few. Gravett seems pretty level headed and relatively unbiased, gives a fantastic introduction to the background of the whole situation, though personally I would have liked more detail on the campaign and on the battles of Stamford bridge, but you can't have everything. As one of the older Osprey's this vastly outstrips the new drivel Osprey seem to produce, and is absolutely worth the money. I bought mine used - good condition and the only issue was some slight staining and fading of the red on the cover. Very happy.

Too the point and excellent synopsis of Hastings battle.
Very good account and plenty of detail for my needs. The descriptive photos of the battlefield and landmarks are helpful and of interest. Thanks Mr. Gravett.
