A Book For Those For Whom The Ocean Calls
For some, they worship the earth and land specifically and call her Mother Earth, but for some it is the ocean rather the land that seems to draw the most sense of wonder and feeling of something divine. That is how I have always felt. Mother Ocean, rather than Mother Earth, is where my reverence holds the most focus. Because of my beliefs I was drawn to this book being it is about bringing the ocean into ones spiritual life and worship just as other books are about bringing the land into ones spiritual life and worship.Over all I really enjoyed this book. It's the first I have found and read about ocean-based spirituality really and I it seems these kinds of ocean-based pagan books to be rather few and far between. This perhaps makes me a bit biased as to the good of this book.Much of this book talks about things readers who have read other neopagan books might not be too unfamiliar with to some degree; however, these thing are in a different context or focus of course then as they are usually in other works. Regardless of if someone is familiar with several common practices found in neopagan books or not, this book seemed to do a good job at explaining things well enough to keep both new readers and more experienced readers from being left out of sorts. The books starts out talking about the premises of ocean-based spirituality and about some natural facts of the ocean and its cycles which was a really nice. The book has few nice ideas on how to change basic practices found in paganism things such as a grounding and centering techniques that uses the ocean rather than the land, and a breathing experience which focus on breathing in `ocean energy' which I found very nice. One of the chapters which I found rather helpful was about alters and tools as it talked about bringing elements of the ocean into ones sacred space. It also talked about divination with cowry shells which I found interesting. After that was about seashells - what they look like, what they can be associated with, and their uses (similar to how crystals can be used but with seashells instead). The chapter was interesting and the idea of using seashells rather than crystals or herbs in ritual or on one's alter was a continued nice touch in being the ocean more into one's practice. Next, there was a chapter on totem animals specifically of the ocean and the idea of working with mythical sea creatures which I also enjoyed though like many books on totemism one of its draw-backs was that was more of a list and how to find one's aquatic totem and not as much on what to do once a totem is found. Finally the book finishes up with talking about being aware of the Moon and her phases considering how much the Moon has an effect on the ocean as well as a few ocean inspired mediations and other daily practices someone can being into their daily life.I do recommend this book for the those interested in the ocean either as part of their spirituality alone or as a way to bring in more ocean based elements into one's spirituality. Actually having a resource for this kind of information was something I enjoyed. A well worth it buy for me indeed.

This is a great book for sea witches and spiritual people who love the mother ocean
This book is great for sea witches or just any spiritual people who have or want a connection with the ocean. From this book I learned how to deepen my connection to mother ocean and it has great information on sea deity’s and saints and water spirits and mythical creatures. It has so many effective meditations and exercises to deepen your connection with the ocean and your own inner ocean and chakras. It talks about different sea shells and their properties and different forms of sea divination and even how to build an altar. And so so so much more. Over all I would definitely recommend this book. I loved it I read it cover to cover!

Wonderful Book on
I originally saw this book at a shop in Salem, MA. As a flipped through the pages, I was struck by the simplistic yet detailed explanations. Once I read them, I knew I had to own it! Every magickal aspect is covered, from connecting to your sea spirit animal to the various deities that are connected to the Sea. There are wonderful examples of altar setups as well as descriptions on how to incorporate the moon into sea magick (the 2 work hand in hand for obvious reasons). Whether you are a practicing Witch or merely wish to feel more connected to the world around you, this book would be a wonderful addition to any collection.

Fantastic book!!
I was soo happy with this book it is really a beginners guide to sea magic. I would reccomend this book to anyone who feels a tie to the water element. You dont have to live near the ocean to do this magic. It is about soul healing and knowing the heart of the ocean what a beautiful combination. If you know anythingn about the element of water you know it holds emotions so it would only make sense to use it to heal some of the more negative emotions get to know yourself better and understand the myths that come from the water such as mermaids or dolphins. I am actually using this book to help me write a class on sea magic thats how impressed I felt about this book!

Candle cover - not mermaid cover - is what's delivered
Wonderful, well-written book, but the product description photos show two possible different covers and you definitely receive the newer edition with the candle on the cover, and not the original mermaid edition. I had a feeling but took the chance hoping for the mermaid cover. Will keep even though I receive the candle cover.

I was not disappointed. The book is informative
As a Sea voyager and a magickal practitioner, I really connected to this book. I come from a background of Earth-based practices and I feel that being out in nature is actually one of the most important ways to learn and infuse your magickal practice with power. I spend a lot of time on the see in my sailboat, so I was drawn to this book and hoped it would be a tool for learning how to use sea elements in my practice. I was not disappointed. The book is informative, comprehensive, and fun!
